About the Job:
The Laboratory Secretary is responsible for processing outpatient requests for service, answering incoming calls to the lab, communicating with technical staff, maintaining filing systems, databases and utilizing the laboratory and hospital information systems accurately. Also, cross trained in, urine drug screen collection. Duties also include updating policies and forms under direction of Lab leadership, ordering supplies, and maintaining inventory. Through daily contact with patients, doctors, nurses, etc., the lab secretary works to improve the public relations of the Laboratory departments and promote patient satisfaction.
Requirements:
- High school graduate or GED.
- Must have 1-2 years of post high school clerical or equivalent training.
- At least 1-2 years of hospital or clinical experience required.
- Strong medical terminology skills.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Must be proficient with the electronic medical record and registration processes within
30 days of hire. - Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills, working with all age groups.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of Microsoft office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.
- Must have strong attention to detail and maintain accurate records.
