Responsibilities/Duties:
- Nursing Leadership: Lead, manage, and mentor the nursing team to provide exceptional, person-centered care in a safe and supportive environment.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all nursing practices and facility operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as CMS standards.
- Care Coordination: Collaborate with medical staff, service managers, and other departments to ensure seamless coordination and continuity of care.
- Staff Management and Engagement: Oversee staffing, performance, and engagement, ensuring that the nursing team is motivated, accountable, and aligned with facility goals. Lead efforts for ongoing staff engagement and development.
- RN Assessment: In the absence of nurse supervisors, cover admissions and perform comprehensive RN assessments to ensure the timely and appropriate care of new residents.
- Policy Development and Review: Develop, update, and revise nursing policies and procedures in line with best practices and regulatory requirements, ensuring clarity and consistency across the department.
- Quality Improvement: Lead quality improvement projects, tracking outcomes, analyzing data, and implementing solutions to enhance care and reduce risks. Run survey preparation training for staff to ensure compliance and readiness.
- Clinical Support: Provide direct clinical assistance on the floor as needed, especially during critical times or when clinical expertise is required.
- IDT Reviews: Oversee and facilitate Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) reviews for clinical events, ensuring comprehensive care planning and documentation.
- Accountability to HR Policies: Hold nursing staff accountable to facility HR policies, ensuring that all procedures are followed and any issues are addressed promptly.
- Safety Event Management: Complete all manager reviews in Safe-T-Net with the appropriate information and in a timely manner to ensure effective staff performance tracking and development.
- Infection Prevention Collaboration: Collaborate with the infection prevention team to ensure protocols are followed, and any potential issues are addressed swiftly to maintain resident safety.
- Budget and Resource Management: Work closely with senior leadership to manage the nursing department’s budget, control costs, and ensure optimal resource allocation.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Support and respect residents' cultural practices, ensuring they do not interfere with medical treatment while promoting an inclusive care environment.
- Stakeholder Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with administration, medical staff, residents’ families, and external parties to ensure collaborative care and alignment with facility goals.
Education/Experience:
Preferred
- 3-5 years of experience in Skilled Nursing
- 1-2 years of previous management experience
Required
- Current Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing
- Current BLS certification, or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
