The RETAIL ASSISTANT MANAGER is responsible for ensuring the smooth operations of the retail store. This person will support all staff on the sales floor and handle administrative duties. This person is responsible for successfully executing Tamarack’s loss prevention strategy to safeguard the retail assets across the resort, including merchandise and profits. This person will maintain a safe shopping environment for customers and staff, and prevent losses due to theft, fraud, or other incidents. This person will work closely with the Retail Merchandiser to implement loss prevention strategies. The RETAIL ASSISTANT MANAGER is responsible for acting as the primary point of contact for all incoming deliveries of retail merchandise, inspecting inventory shipments, and inventory control. Their duties include resolving customer complaints and training new team members. This person will work with Sales Associate to provide efficient, accurate, informative, and friendly sales experience to all Tamarack guests. This person will be up to date on all Tamarack ticket products, discounts, and promotions, and will provide guests with their best purchase options for the duration of their stay.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Ensure Tamarack Resort standards of service are always delivered.
Greet and assist customers as needed to deter theft and ensure a positive shopping experience.
Conduct regular security checks of exit/entry points and high-risk areas.
Implement security alarms and access control systems.
Conduct regular inventory audits to detect and prevent shrinkage.
Investigate discrepancies in inventory and report findings to management.
Train employees in loss prevention techniques, including identifying and preventing theft and fraud.
Raise awareness among employees about loss prevention best practices.
Complete all cash-out procedures required for daily sales.
QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of retail math acumen, including markup, markdown, gross margin, OTB, inventory productivity measures.
Ability to perform data entry in various computer systems.
Knowledge of Point-of-Sale systems.
Proven problem-solving skills.
Ability to multitask.
Previous experience in retail security or loss prevention is often preferred.
Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to loss prevention.
Strong observation and communication skills.
Ability to remain calm and handle confrontational situations.
Good judgment and decision-making skills.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Prior work experience with a ski resort, seasonal business and/or the hospitality industry is highly preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
