Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food service and a deep appreciation for Japanese cuisine. Sushi Chefs at Tamashi make tips, which range from $3-$5 an hour dependent upon the day.
Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, and rolls, following traditional techniques and recipes.
- Ensure all ingredients are fresh and properly stored, adhering to food safety standards.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new menu items and improve existing offerings.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, including proper sanitation practices.
- Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels of ingredients and supplies.
- Provide excellent customer service by engaging with guests and accommodating special dietary requests.
- Train junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and food handling practices.
Skills
- Proven experience in food service, particularly in sushi preparation or Japanese cuisine.
- Proficient knife skills with the ability to handle various kitchen tools safely and effectively.
- Strong culinary knowledge with an understanding of flavor profiles and ingredient pairings.
