Job Overview: The Tampa Bay Automobile Museum is a top destination in the Greater St. Petersburg/Clearwater region. Our collection of cars is very unique, and we welcome visitors from all over the country and world every day.
As an Automobile Museum Associate, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing visitors' experiences by providing exceptional customer service, museum tours, and assisting with retail operations within the museum's gift shop. This position requires a passion for automobiles, willingness to learn, excellent communication skills, and a friendly demeanor to engage with museum guests. You will be responsible for ensuring a seamless experience, engaging with visitors, while contributing to the overall success of the museum's operations.
This is a weekend part time position
Responsibilities:
- Customer Service:
- Greet museum visitors warmly and provide a welcome and introduction to the museum and collection.
- Assist visitors with inquiries regarding merchandise, exhibits, and general museum information.
- Provide guided tours to customers, answering questions about automobile-related items.
- Carefully oversee the safety and condition of objects on display.
- Educate guests on the importance of preserving the history of the automobiles.
- Retail Operations:
- Process sales transactions accurately using point-of-sale (POS) systems and handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the retail area.
- Dust cars as needed. After all, they are the reason people visit!
- Public Engagement:
- Actively promote museum special events, and promotions to visitors to encourage sales and enhance visitor engagement.
- Utilize knowledge of automobile history and culture to engage customers in conversations about museum exhibits and related merchandise.
- Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with museum staff, including managers and event coordinators, to promote museum exhibits and events.
- Communicate effectively with fellow associates and supervisors to ensure smooth coordination of daily operations and adherence to museum policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in retail management or customer service is a plus.
- Previous retail experience, preferably in a museum, gift shop, or automotive-related environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse museum visitors.
- Proficiency in using point-of-sale (POS) systems and basic computer skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.
Schedule:
This position is forweekends – Saturday and Sunday. Sometimes weekday shifts open, so availability during the week is a plus.
9:30AM-4:30PM Saturday, 11:30AM-4:30PM Sunday
Hourly Rate $17.00
