The TECO Energy Internship & Cooperative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co-op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study.

Position Summary/Details:
Responsibilities include gathering and compiling asset data from various sources, ensuring accuracy and completeness for analysis. Additionally, responsibilities include coordinating project timelines, analyzing data to drive strategic decisions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure project success by leveraging data insights for actionable results.

Accountabilities:
  • Support the creation and maintenance of project plans including scheduling, resource allocation, task tracking and budgets, ensuring expenses align with approved allocations and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide regular updates on project status, budget adherence, and data-driven insights, fostering transparency and alignment across the project team.
  • Utilize statistical techniques and data mining methods to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies within asset data sets.
  • Support the development and maintenance of predictive models to forecast asset performance, maintenance needs, and potential risks.

Physical Location of Co-op: Big Bend Power Station 13031 Wyandotte Road, Gibsonton FL 33534
Working Conditions: Mostly in a normal office environment, a successful candidate will visit the field approximately weekly. This will include riding in a company vehicle on-road and off-road, walking on uneven surfaces, and entering substations.
Preferred Availability: Part – Time (30 – 40 hours)

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
The successful applicant should be enrolled in an accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline.
Co-Op Requirements:
  • To qualify as a co-op student, enrollment in the university’s co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
  • Valid Driver’s License

Degree: Currently pursuing one of the following: Business, Computer Science, IT or related.
Year in School: Junior or Senior
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Microsoft Suite Applications (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc)
  • Power BI/Tableau
  • Customer support
  • Project support
