Position Concept
The Engineer - Solar and Energy Storage Engineering is responsible for developing, implementing and administering an industry best practice approach to cost effectively achieving the highest level of performance from Tampa Electric’s utility and commercial scale Solar and Energy Storage facilities and collector stations. Responsible for the development and tracking of effective inspection, monitoring, environmental compliance and preventative maintenance programs for Tampa Electric Solar and Energy Storage facilities and collector stations. In addition, responsible for the development and maintenance of a reliability predictive modeling tool for these facilities.
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from a ABET accredited college or university
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from a ABET accredited college or university
Licenses/Certifications
Preferred: Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) in the State of Florida.
Experience
Required: 0-2 years of Engineer experience related to the Duties & Responsibilities of this position is required.
Preferred: 2 or more years of Engineer experience related to the Duties & Responsibilities of this position is required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Required: A sound understanding of power generation, transmission, distribution or substation engineering principals, materials and their applications; Working knowledge of reliability centered maintenance practices, continuous improvement practices and power generation/delivery systems used in electric utilities; Working knowledge of work management systems in power generation/delivery; Ability to organize, lead and resolve technical and process problems; Good project management skills, time management skills and communication skills.
Work Conditions
Must be able to work irregular hours, overtime and possible holidays
Physical Demands/ Requirements
Must be able to work in dusty and hot environments. Must be able to ascend and descend from ladders and stairs. Walking (sometimes on uneven surfaces), bending and driving as needed.

- Engineer classification is multi-level, based on the qualification guidelines outlined in the Company’s Engineer Career Path, Administrative Policy 2.13. A minimum classification of an Engineer Assocate is required in this position.
- Development and implementation of the Solar and Energy Storage facility and collector station design/equipment specification review; health, criticality, and risk assessments; inspection, monitoring, and testing strategies; performance; safety; environmental and maintenance requirements. 20%.
- Development and implementation of a Solar and Energy Storage facility and collector station reliability plan using empirical data to predict reliability performance. 20%
- Track, analyze and assist in reporting of reliability metrics for Solar and Energy Storage facilities and collector stations. 20%
- Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive data collection and predictive modeling tool for Solar and Energy Storage facilities and collector stations that assists in the prioritization of expenditures. 5%
- Assist in the facilitation of system root cause analysis for Solar and Energy Storage facilities and collector stations. Assist in facilitation and tracking of resulting action plans to maintain appropriate system performance. 10%
- Maintain measurement of Solar and Energy Storage facilities and collector stations performance to ensure achievement of organization vision and goals through performance benchmarking 10%.
- Participate in the development of Solar and Energy Storage facility and collector station O&M, capital and other budgets and manage expenditures accordingly. 5%
- Perform any other task as assigned by the Sr. Engineer, Solar and Energy Storage Engineering. 10%
