POSITION SUMMARY:
The Accountant is responsible for performing daily and monthly financial activities necessary to support the plant operations including creating and tracking business metrics for the various plant departments. This includes review of Accounts Payable invoices, Inventory adjustments, production costs, journal entries, and month-end processing. Additionally, this position will work closely with the Plant leadership team to establish and execute meaningful metrics, to optimize inventory and cost controls, and improve operational and financial efficiency. This position reports to the headquartered-based Controller with a dotted line to the Plant Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist Plant leadership to improve the measurement, communication, and analysis of operational data to improve alignment between operational metrics and financial results.
- Provide insights into production inefficiencies and drive corrective actions.
- Provide technical accounting expertise to improve processes and analyze job production costs, material variances, and overheads.
- Analyze and explain monthly and seasonal fluctuations in volume and costs as compared to prior months and budget
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of the inventory, monitor monthly inventory costs, conduct regular inventory analysis, and manage physical inventory count processes
- Responsible for establishing Plant internal controls and assisting with Year-End Audit.
- Perform additional ad hoc analytical work as business requires to support Plant operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5-7 years experience in a cost Accountant role in a manufacturing environment required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- 2 years of experience with ERP general ledger software required; Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) or similar preferred; Experience with ERP Implementation is a plus.
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills with attention to detail/accuracy.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work alone and as a team member.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively present information to internal peers or external customers.
- Advanced Microsoft Office Experience (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Able to work in an office and manufacturing environment.
- Preferred place of residence: Palestine, Texas, or surrounding areas.
