Job Summary
Job Summary: Job incumbent provides security services on all TCC property. Patrols assigned areas to protect persons and property. Monitors all areas of the property, including common areas and parking lots. Assists staff and visitors with access as appropriate.

Essential Functions

Representative Duties: Under general supervision of the Security Sergeant, job incumbent will:
1. Perform Shift Sergeant duties when there is not a Sergeant scheduled for that shift. Authorization to perform duties must come from the Security Director.
2. Patrols all buildings and properties of Tanana Chiefs Conference, examining doors, elevators, stairwells, and windows to assure they are secured. Locks and unlocks building entrances, stairwells, doors, elevators, when necessary.
3. Inspects premises for signs of intrusions and interruption of utility services. Monitors all areas of property including common areas and parking lots. Reports irregularities to appropriate parties and maintains daily log of events.
4. Monitors parking lot assuring that employees and guests park in designated areas.
5. Examines fire extinguishers to ensure their serviceability and reports discrepancies to the facilities supervisor.
6. Responds to alarms and investigates disturbances.
7. Confronts unauthorized personnel to maintain facility integrity.
8. Maintains a daily log and writes reports of irregularities.
9. Reports to supervisor at regular intervals.
10. Observes workers’ vehicles entering and leaving premises.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Associates Degree in Security or related field, and four years of experience in Security. Or, ten (10) years of security experience. Military and or law enforcement service may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
2. Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
3. ETT or EMT Qualified.
4. Excellent health and physical condition are necessary due to physical demands of position.
5. Must pass background check pursuant to federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements and State of Alaska background check.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Must read, write, speak and comprehend English.
2. Ability to perform duties in a cross-cultural environment.
3. Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
4. Must be skilled in the use of computers.
5. Must be trained and certified to conduct Sergeant duties.

Supervision
Physical demands: Job incumbent must be able to lift and carry up to fifty pounds. Position requires job incumbent to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Dexterity and agility are also required as necessary to apprehend unruly persons. This position works varied shifts and varied job sites.

Summation: Strong analytical, communication, cross-cultural and interpersonal skills are necessary for interaction with tribal members and the general public during the course of each shift. Incumbent must be tactful and courteous, demonstrate common sense and sound judgment when handling situations and encounters.
