Job Summary: The Audiologist will be a part of the health care team who uses technology, creative problem solving, and social skills to identify and treat hearing, balance, tinnitus, and other auditory disorders. Incumbent will help people with these disorders better communicate and connect with the world around them and ensure the highest quality in the delivery of patient care. The position may have supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Functions

Representative Duties: Under the direct supervision of Allied Health Director, the Audiologist will:
1. Identify, test, diagnosis, and manage disorders of human hearing, balance, and tinnitus; interpret test results of behavioral and objective measures.
2. Counsel patients and families about hearing health and the possible need for treatment and management as well as the psychosocial adjustments of hearing loss.
3. Assess the candidacy of persons with hearing loss for hearing aids and cochlear implants and provide fitting, programming, and audiologic rehabilitation to ensure the best possible outcomes.
4. Supervise and Conduct newborn hearing screening
5. Evaluate and manage children and adults with central auditory processing disorders.
6. Actively engage in the assessment and evaluation of patients undergoing treatment, including ordering and interpreting labs and imaging, and ordering medications.
7. Screen speech-language, the use of sign language, and other factors affecting communication function for the purpose of audiologic evaluation and/or initial identification of individuals with other communication disorders.
8. Be available for consultation by medical staff regarding audiology care.
9. Perform otoscopic examinations of ear canals and ear drum, manage the removal of excessive cerumen, and make ear impressions.
10. Recommend and provide hearing aid selection, fitting and programming. of patients and families.
11. Recommend hearing assistive technology systems.
12. Participate in the development of professional and technical standards.
13. Demonstrate the value of audiologic services by measuring functional outcomes, consumer satisfaction, and effectiveness of treatment.
14. Serve on relevant committees and participate in quality improvement projects.
15. Obtain awareness and ensure compliance with all IHS and AAAHC standards associated with the provision of medical services.
16. Maintain timely and accurate medical records.
17. Supervise audiology assistants who provide support functions to the practice of audiology.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Masters or Doctoral Degree in Audiology and Board Certification;
2. Three (3) years’ experience;
3. ASLHA Certification;
4. Must be able to meet all guidelines necessary to become credentialed and privileged as a member of the TCC Clinical Staff;
5. Active Alaska state license;
6. Acceptable malpractice history;
7. Current BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross);.
8. Must pass background check pursuant to federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements and State of Alaska background check.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Capacity for making quick, intelligent decisions
2. Ability to work collegially and collaboratively with staff
3. A professional skill set including but not limited to: leadership, professional development, collaboration, negotiation and conflict resolution
4. Demonstrated excellence in communication skills, verbally and in writing

Supervision
Physical demands: Work is primarily at Chief Andrew Isaac Health Center. Position requires recurring bending, stooping, kneeling, stretching, and reaching. No Lifting >10kg is anticipated
