WHEN & WHERE YOU’LL WORK:
On-Site: This role is on-site five days a week at our Del Mar office due to the nature of the work involved.
Schedule: This position has a schedule of 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM PT
A DAY IN THE LIFE:
Requires full proficiency in a range of technical processes or procedures through job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience. Completes a variety of atypical assignments. Works within defined technical processes and procedures or methodologies and may help determine the appropriate approach for new assignments. Works with a limited degree of supervision, with oversight focused only on complex new assignments. Acts as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience.
Sr. Mechanical Engineer Technician I’s at Tandem are also responsible for:
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs and analyzes experiments and integrates work of self and others to complete assignment of the overall work plan.
- Creates experimental summaries and data for reports.
- Organizes and presents own data, assists in review of data from other team members.
- Performs all assignments in accordance with established safety procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Performs tests in the design, construction, test, and check-out of test equipment.
- Performs operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment after fabricating, assembling or creating.
- Leads in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions.
- Records and compiles, or oversees, data for documentation of test procedures and preparation of reports.
- Reviews data for compliance to specifications and reports abnormalities.
- Reviews, redlines and suggests edits for change order requests through release via change control system.
- Maintains department documentation, inventory of test materials, calibration, and preventive maintenance records.
- Qualifies for use and maintains lab equipment, tools, and test fixtures.
- Confirms completion of required training plan before assuming job responsibilities.
- Ensures compliance with company policies including Privacy/HIPAA and other regulatory, legal, and safety requirements.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
- Organizes and maintains the lab and general use area to be free from hazards or clutter.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
Knowledge, skills & abilities:
- Ability to read and follow procedures and flow diagrams.
- Ability to effectively share information regarding issues in written or verbal form and make recommendations in a clear and concise manner.
- Skilled at promoting team cooperation and a commitment to team success.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and handle multiple priorities and complete assignments on time and with minimal errors.
- Experience with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Experience with SolidWorks to access, view and review.
Minimum certifications/educational level:
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Post high school technical training, preferred.
- AA Technical Degree or combination of equivalent education and applicable work experience.
Minimum experience:
- At leat 5 years of experience in an engineering environment.
- Experience using manufacturing, test, development, or diagnostic equipment: test programs, oscilloscopes, signal generators and specialized test apparatus.
- Experience with statistical data analysis preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, see, talk, or hear in a standard office environment. In a lab setting, occasionally use hands to finger, handle objects, tools, or controls. Employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
The starting base pay range for this position is $27.40- $34.23 per hour. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may also fluctuate depending on candidate’s location and the overall job market. In addition to base pay, Tandem offers a competitive compensation package that includes bonus, equity, and a robust benefits package.

You’ll also receive 11 paid holidays per year, a minimum of 20 days of paid time off (with accrual starting on day 1) and you will have access to a 401k plan with company match as well as an Employee Stock Purchase plan.
