POSITION SUMMARY
In this position reporting to the Director of Manufacturing, the EHS Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring plant and employee compliance to OSHA, MPCA, and EPA policies.
AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
- Writing, auditing, and editing programs as needed
- Ensures plant personnel are trained as needed, including but not limited to developing the training, conducting the training and documenting the training
- Implement safety initiatives to improve plant safety
- Work with external consultants to-
- Ensure plant is compliant with OSHA, MPCA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies
- Ensure timely submission of reports, such as OSHA 300 log, TRI, hazardous waste, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan, and Tier II reports
- Perform various facility inspections/audits on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis (FE, EWS, Egress)
- Oversee the Safety Committee/Emergency Response Team
- Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed
- Take responsibility for plant emergencies, including weather, accidents, medical emergencies, and other potential incidents
- Coordinates with department heads and purchasing in determining personal protective equipment (PPE) needs and vending machine access, availability, and team member vending limits
- Supervise plant Environmental Disposal Techs
- In coordination with Human Resources develop company health plan policies
- Coordinate with other departments as needed in regards to loss prevention and security measures
- Accepts other duties and responsibilities as assigned or as need becomes apparent
SPECIAL SKILLS/TRAINING/EXPERIENCES REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, occupational safety, industrial technology or related field with minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in Safety or EHS. 5-7 years of applicable experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
- Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teams
- Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections
