A health services network in New York City is currently seeking a new, Certified Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor or Trainee (CASAC or CASAC-T) to join their growing team in Buffalo, NY.
Shift: Monday to Friday
Times: 7am-3pm and 1pm-9pm (35hr work week)
Responsibilities
The Certified Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor /Trainee (CASAC or CASAC-T) will:
- Employed a range of person-centered, evidence-based treatment modalities, including motivational interviewing, stages of change, trauma-informed care, anger management, medication-assisted treatment, DBT, CBT, and contingency management.
- Developed and conducted group and individual counseling sessions.
- Obtained weekly random observed urine samples as per protocol.
- Oriented clients about program goals, rules, obligations, and operations.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of group work and individual counseling techniques.
- Utilized various evidence-based treatment models and theories of addiction.
- Participated in interdisciplinary team meetings and treatment planning.
- Developed appropriate treatment plans and clinical interventions.
- Incorporated special needs of diverse populations into clinical practice.
- Maintained accurate and timely documentation.
- Provided education on alcohol and substance use.
- Adhered to ethical and behavioral standards in counseling relationships.
- Engaged in prevention and treatment techniques.
- Maintained and updated referral services and resources.
- Demonstrated proficiency in English for effective communication.
- Participated in supervision, feedback, and performance evaluation.
- Maintained caseload and group engagement.
- Familiar with APG, ICD-10 billing codes, and DSM V diagnosis.
- Ensured compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Participated in community outreach and census capacity activities.
- Completed client progress reports and coordinated care with criminal justice entities.
- Participated in program meetings and required trainings.
- Completed tasks as requested by supervisors.
Qualifications:
- Current OASAS CASAC-T certificate required
- Previous relevant experience in OASAS program preferred.
- Ability to use business acumen to exercise good judgment and decision-making.
- Ability to deal with sensitive issues with diplomacy and discretion.
- Must be able to multi task with strong organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and able to communicate both verbally and in written form.
- Commitment to cultural diversity and sensitivity.
- Spanish speaking skills preferred
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor under pressure and operate with a keen sense of urgency and commitment to quality.
