A nonprofit organization in New York City is currently seeking a new team member to join their staff in Brooklyn as a Case Manager for one of their DV Shelters.
About the Opportunity:
- Start Date: ASAP
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 10am-6pm or 11am-7pm (one late day Tues or Thurs mandatory) 12pm-8pm
- Setting: Domestic Violence Shelter
Job Responsibilities:
- Weekly inspection of onsite units to ensure safety well-being of client(s)
- Engage residents in initial and ongoing treatment processes, through individual and group counseling
- Develop and maintain housing referral resources, assist residents in the process of locating and securing permanent housing
- Assist all residents in the process of referral and placement in community based resources
- Assess residents' vocational and educational needs, aptitudes and interests through interviews and testing
- Develop and maintain placement and follow-up as appropriate after assessment and counseling.
- Participate in training seminars conducted to enhance and develop clinical skills with the client population
- Attend weekly individual case supervision, group supervision, monthly case conferences, and staff meetings
- Develop with the resident, a contract of mutually agreed goals and objectives to be accomplished within an agreed upon timetable
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Social Work Supervisor
Education/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a Health and/or Human Services-related field with at least 1 years of experience is preferred
- Associates Degree, HS Diploma or GED with at least 4-5 years of experience in a shelter/residential or domestic violence (DV) setting
- Experience and demonstrated skills in crisis management group counseling
- Knowledgeable and sensitive to domestic violence issues
- Computer savvy
- Microsoft Office Application proficiency
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
