Tax Manager Position Overview
A highly respected professional services firm in Connecticut is seeking a seasoned Tax expert to assume the role of Tax Manager at Tandym Group.
Job Responsibilities:
- Tax Provisions and GAAP Disclosures
- The selected candidate will be responsible for preparing and monitoring income tax provisions and related GAAP disclosures.
- REIT Compliance Expertise
- They will regularly monitor REIT compliance, including estimating current taxable income, assisting with forecasting taxable income, tax characterization of dividends and the REIT income and asset tests.
- Ongoing Reporting and Maintenance
- The Tax Manager will assist with the automation and maintenance of ongoing REIT compliance reporting, in coordination with risk, compliance, tax, and public reporting groups.
- Workpaper Preparation
- Preparation of workpapers detailing book/tax adjustments for publicly traded REITs and private corporations to support the quarterly and annual REIT compliance tests, tax provisions, and other tax requirements.
- Data Management and Analysis
- Data management for tax amortization calculations relating to mortgage-backed securities, mortgages, consumer loans, real estate-owned assets, ABS, and CLOs.
- Compliance Monitoring and Analysis
- Assisting in monitoring compliance with tax trading guidelines, analyzing potential purchases for REIT qualification purposes, and identifying potential tax issues.
- Tax Estimates and Calendars
- Preparing quarterly federal and state tax estimates and maintaining detailed tax calendars.
- Tax Notices and Research
- Responding to tax notices from federal and state tax authorities and researching federal and state tax issues.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience
- At least 5 years of experience with Federal and State Tax on fixed income funds and/or Mortgage REIT's.
- Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
- Key Skills
- Extensive knowledge of Tax Accounting for Federal and State Income Taxes.
- Advanced data management and spreadsheet skills.
- Microsoft Office proficient.
