A health services network in New York City is currently seeking a licensed Pharmacist to join their growing inpatient adult mental health facility in the Bronx.
About the Opportunity:
- Shift: Days
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 8:30am to 4:30pm
- Setting: Inpatient Mental Health
- Patient Population: Adults
- EMR: MAARS
Responsibilities:
- Independently prepares, compounds, preserves, and dispenses drugs, medicines, and therapeutic devices on the basis of prescriptions, medication orders, or other legal authority
- Receives, evaluates, compounds, and dispenses prescriptions for individuals in organization's facilities and programs
- Reviews prescription orders in conjunction with individual information and records; verifies the accuracy of drug, dosage, and quantity prescribed
- Advises the Physicians and other health care providers about incompatible orders/prescriptions, contraindications, adverse side effects and interactions, therapeutic duplication, and other potential issues; and recommends alternative
- Re-packages, and dispenses medications and other pharmaceuticals
- Monitors and maintains and updates pharmacy records and drug information systems, consistent with state and federal laws, rules and regulations and requirements
- Educates patients about their medications, including dosage, side effects, and precautions
- Oversees the Pharmacy staff, maintains inventory, and ensures compliance with regulations
- Provides information to healthcare professionals about new medications and treatment options
- Addresses patient concerns about medications, providing support for chronic conditions, and promoting health and wellness
- Performs other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- Active New York State Pharmacist license
- Previous experience working withing a Clinical setting
Desired Skills:
- Experience working with the Mental Health population
