Tangent Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity and Cloud Security Engineer to support IT security initiatives, ensuring compliance with federal standards such as FedRAMP, RMF, and ATO processes . The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Cloud Security, IT systems engineering, and large-scale Cloud solutions within federal and / or commercial industries. This role requires hands-on expertise in cybersecurity engineering, security architecture, and authorization processes for systems and applications. Key Responsibilities Security Engineering & Compliance : Lead the integration of FedRAMP, RMF, and ATO security requirements into systems and applications. Develop and implement security controls, risk management frameworks (RMF), and authorization strategies . Support Federal A&A (Assessment & Authorization) activities to achieve and maintain Authority to Operate (ATO). Ensure compliance with federal policies, processes, and security standards. Cloud & IT Security Implementation : Design, develop, and implement Cloud security architectures for large-scale federal and commercial environments. Provide cybersecurity engineering expertise in Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and IT systems. Perform risk assessments, vulnerability management, and security testing. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure secure system development life cycle (SDLC) practices. Technical Leadership & Support : Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for cybersecurity and Cloud security best practices. Work closely with engineering, development, and security teams to improve system security postures. Develop security documentation, including System Security Plans (SSP), POA&Ms, Security Assessment Reports (SARs), and Continuous Monitoring (ConMon) plans . Provide technical guidance to stakeholders on federal cybersecurity requirements and industry best practices . Minimum Qualifications Education : Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Assurance, Information Security, Information Resource Management, or a related field . Certifications (One or More Required) : IAT II, IAM II, or IASAE II (e.g., Security , CISSP, CISM, CCSP, CEH, or equivalent). Experience : Minimum 5 years of IT / Cybersecurity experience, including : 3 years in Cybersecurity and Cloud Security for government agencies of similar size / scope to DoD or VA . Experience designing and implementing large-scale Cloud solutions in federal or commercial environments. Deep understanding of FedRAMP, RMF, ATO, and Federal A&A activities . Strong knowledge of federal cybersecurity policies, processes, and standards . Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in a relevant field. Experience working with DoD, VA, DHS, or other federal agencies . Hands-on experience with NIST 800-53, FISMA, and FedRAMP Moderate / High security requirements. Knowledge of Zero Trust Architectures (ZTA) and Cloud-native security solutions. Familiarity with security automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or AWS Security Hub .
