The Role : We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced, and independent Finance Partner to support and drive the success of our farming operations. In this high-visibility role, you will leverage financial data and insights to inform key decisions involving our internal farm operations and network of grower partners.
Location(s) : Salinas, CA
Your primary focus will be :
Budgeting / Forecasting :
Collaborate with operational and finance leadership to assist in the development of the annual budget.
Reporting :
Provide timely, accurate, and relevant financial results and analysis to all levels of the organization across multiple departments.
Present data clearly and concisely, ensuring logical flow and actionable insights.
Special Projects :
Analyze various farming-related issues and evaluate processes, identifying opportunities for improvement.
Exercise sound judgment, make recommendations, and follow through on resolutions.
Your duties will include :
Performance Management :
Generate reports on key metrics such as cost per acre, cost per unit, yields, volumes, and grower profitability.
Deliver timely and accurate period financial reports, including variance analysis.
Financial Management :
Contribute to the farming and related departments' budgeting process by interpreting production plans, yields, and acres planted by area and grower, creating a comprehensive growing cost budget.
Ensure the farm's objectives for effectiveness and efficiency are met while providing reliable financial reporting on a period and annual basis.
Analyze and articulate the drivers of financial variances in each period.
Utilize foundational finance knowledge (e.g., discounted cash flow models, cost of capital, opportunity cost, and risk management) along with statistical tools (e.g., weighted averages, standard deviation, probability) to support operational teams.
Correlate operational data with financial performance and apply accounting principles as needed.
Provide support to Grower Accounting as required.
Business Intelligence :
Integrate data from various business systems and subsystems, ensuring accuracy and integrity.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel (including advanced functions like lookups, IF statements, conditional formatting, and pivot tables) to analyze and present data.
Utilize SQL and database experience (MS Access) to support accurate and comprehensive reporting.
Effectively present data using Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) and data visualization tools for summarizing insights.
Preferred Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Ag Business, Economics, or a related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in an analytical role, working with operations teams.
Strong working knowledge of vegetable farming practices and cost accounting.
