To serve as a resource to the nursing management team. Provides reports and information relevant to day to day operations of Nursing Administration, included but not limited to staffing, FMLA, bed assignment, etc. The Staffing Coordinator is an administrative support position responsible for coordinating the staffing of nursing care units, maintenance of daily staffing sheets, keying of new employees into computer, assisting with clerical duties and securing sitters as needed. This individual serves as a resource person to the nursing units developing plans according to patient acuity, census, activities of the unit, and staff capabilities.

- Accurately assess staffing requirements for the current and on-coming shifts.
- Coordinates bed assignments with attention to patient care needs and staffing levels.
- Effectively handles situations in a calm, objective manner and coordinates needed change.
- Maintains communication with the nursing directors, administration, employees, physicians, patients, significant other(s) and other departments.
- Provides guidance to nursing leaders and staff concerning issues related to FMLA usage and documentation, PRO procedures, etc.
- Accurately evaluates self and meets pre-established professional goals.
- Acquires additional equipment and supplies when indicated.
- Acts as a resource in a limited capacity to nursing staff and Nursing Management team.
- Assist with orientation of new nurse management staff.
- Assists with new nursing employee?s orientation ensuring that they are familiarized with proper adherence to time and attendance, FMLA, etc.
- Assures maximum staff productivity by monitoring patient load on nursing units hour by hour and suggesting staffing adjustments to nurse supervisor or director.
- Collaborates with Nurse Manager and Director regarding staffing and nursing personnel issues.
- Communicates staff trends and issues to nursing management.
- Completes required in-services.
- Completes required reports that ensure the smooth operation of Nursing Administration.
- Demonstrates caring behavior to patients, family, visitors and other hospital personnel.
