QA Engineer - Data Engineering Princeton, NJ (Onsite 3 days)
Position Summary
This includes end to end accountability for the testing quality of the user experience through visual inspection and functional testing against established QA principals, methodology and guidelines. This position requires the ability to oversee, manage and report out the status of manual test cases, execution of test scripts and defect remediation. Also, it should require hands on, technical, and functional testing knowledge.
Job Responsibilities
Develop and execute manual functional test cases for Snowflake database / data warehouse and Matillion ETL.
Utilize Snowflake data warehouse to verify and validate data integrity between data extracts and backend database tables. Must be able to write SQL queries for development of functional test cases.
Participate in SCRUM meetings like daily standup, sprint grooming and planning, retrospective.
Analyze and build test cases and prepare test plans.
Review, create and maintain test cases, execute test scripts, participate in defect remediation and metrics reporting.
Perform functional, integration, regression, and performance testing. Analyze test results to predict user behavior, identify bugs and work with team to triage them.
Create and maintain documentation of test plans, test cases and testing results.
Requirements and Technical skills
Experience using project management tools and documentation planforms like, JIRA, Confluence, Miro.
Experience working on Agile / Waterfall methodologies and SDLC processes.
Hands-on experience on functional testing, writing SQL queries to validate data against backend database.
Ability to work with developers, data engineers, product managers, and QA engineers.
Excellent communication skills, listening, and interpersonal skills.
Experience working effectively in a team oriented / collaborative environment, with
onshore, offshore and nearshore team.
Time management skills, with ability to multi-task while effectively managing time and meeting critical deadlines.
Strong customer focus with the ability to advocate for the customer experience.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to focus on detail-oriented material.
Minimum qualifications
BS / MS in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Must have a minimum of 5 years of functional or manual testing experience in data and analytics engineering industry.
Experienced on database platforms like SQL server, Snowflake and experienced on ETL platform like Matillion.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Candidate must be creative, self-sufficient, and resourceful.
Must have problem solving and analytical skills. Should look for and takes advantage of opportunities and should seek increased responsibilities.
