What are the responsibilities and job description for the SY 25-26: Middle Grades Science Teacher at TAPA: Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts position at TAPA: Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts?
SY 25-26 Middle School Science Instructor at TAPA: Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts | Providence, RI
TAPA: Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts, an academically rigorous public charter school for the arts, seeks a Middle School Science Instructor. The ideal candidate values the connections between the sciences and the arts and brings a thoughtful, student-centered approach to interdisciplinary instruction.
TAPAs creative community is enriched by the cultural, religious, racial, ethnic, and linguistic diversity of our neurodiverse families, students, and employees. Demographically, nearly all members of the TAPA student body are people of color, predominantly Latinx, with many students speaking both English and Spanish in their homes. A significant portion of TAPAs student body identifies as members of the LGBTQ community. We aim to hire staff members who reflect the diversity of our students and who demonstrate an understanding of the strengths and experiences they bring.
The Middle School Science Instructor teaches five classes, each with approximately 20 students. They will also work directly with a smaller group of Middle School students to lead an Advisory. It is our hope that an Adviser stays with their advisory throughout the students middle school years at TAPA. Advisory provides an opportunity for social-emotional learning and support. The Advisor/Advisee relationship ensures that every student has a school-based advocate and a first-line connection to TAPA. Advisors and Advisees build strong relationships and bridges through empathy. This position is an incredible opportunity to join TAPA's tight-knit teaching corps.
At TAPA, Science is taught utilizing an arts-integrated curriculum aligned with the NGSS Standards. The arts are deeply embedded into the core of interdisciplinary learning. TAPA prepares students to successfully meet or exceed Rhode Islands graduation requirements and perform at (or above) grade level on all state and local assessments. TAPA meets each students individual academic needs using assessment data and continuous feedback while providing clear academic, social, and artistic expectations.
At its core, TAPA is a student-centered, caring community that fosters leadership, intellect, self-confidence, and responsibility. Respect for diverse experiences and inclusive approaches to teaching and learning are foundational to our school culture. Candidates with backgrounds or experiences that contribute to this work are encouraged to apply.
