POSITION: K-4Student Support (Behavioral)
REPORTS TO: K-4 Assistant Principal
WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Non Exempt
Hours/Work Day: 7:30am-3:45pm/M-F
PURPOSE: Student Support provides leadership and direction at the primary level by working proactively to create a thriving school culture based upon Tapestry’s core values. In the Student Support role it is essential to collaborate with the people that work closest with the student to provide behavioral interventions based upon relationship building and research based practices that are rooted in restorative justice. This work includes: classroom teachers and teaching partners, administration and families. Communication both positively and proactively will be the key to building a synergistic team of supports for students. In the student support role you are providing all stakeholders, including parents, teachers and other administrators with classroom/school-wide behavior management strategies and support.
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
School-wide Duties
Assist with arrival, dismissal, breakfast & lunch duties
After-school duty from 2:30-3:30 daily
Assist and Respond to Level 1 and 2 infractions
Other duties as assigned
Weekly meeting with the Assistant Principal and Climate Team
Set up your school calendar to reflect appointments and share with the assistant principal and principal
Relationship Building
- Conduct conflict resolution, peer mediation, and restorative circles when necessary.
- Engage stakeholders in the “student behavior intervention plan” process with the assistant principal by learning skills and techniques to support the positive behavior development of students.
Creating a safe and productive school environment
- Address classroom organization, effective instruction, social skills instruction, school-wide Positive Behavioral Support and other factors that improve the culture and climate of the building.
- Continually supervise students to ensure a safe, non-threatening, nurturing environment where students can thrive.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures; report all unsafe activities to supervisor.
- Administer site consequences up to and including level 1’s and communicate with involved staff members.
- Work with the assistant principal and student support team to identify areas of concern within the school.
Maintain clear and accurate records
- Maintain a record of student progress by logging behavioral interventions such as level 1’s that also include positive PowerSchool comments.
- Attend Student Concerns/RtI meetings when necessary.
- Help to create informal Behavior Intervention Plans and follow up with teachers.
Provide ongoing support
- Work cooperatively with building administrators to promote positive student behavior by providing lunch bunches, restorative circles, and proactive and strategic moves that target research-based strategies and modeling instructional practices to support teachers.
- Implementation of behavioral consequences and positive behavior supports in their classrooms.
- Knowledge and application of the Tapestry Code of Conduct and PowerSchool.
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
