Job purpose
Participates in categorical, geographical, and income eligibility determination for WIC program
services, processing and printing WIC benefits, WIC reception work, file creation and
management, follow up on terminations, transfers and re-certifications, and computer
management and reporting.
Duties and responsibilities
- Performs duties such as:
◦ Answer and direct phone calls.
◦ Screen applicant inquiries for eligibility and answer questions.
◦ Greet and triage participants to appropriate staff.
◦ Oversee flow of applicants/participants in waiting area.
◦ Handle appointment scheduling and rescheduling on the computer.
◦ Keep adequate supply pf program pamphlets for participants.
◦ Run educational videos, as needed.
◦ Clerical duties as required.
- Follows all protocols and/or regulations for processing applicants/participants for
(re)certification including:
◦ Verification of identity, income, residency, and participant category . Complete data
entry for (re)certification.
◦ Fill out eligibility agreement form.
◦ Educate and/or explain participant's right and responsibilities, WIC foods, and using
benefits at authorized vendors.
◦ Referrals to MassHealth, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and
Transitional Aid to Families of Dependent Children (TAFDC) programs as well as
other health and human service programs.
◦ Provide notification for end of certification, missed benefits, and/or ineligibility to
receive WIC benefits.
- Oversees benefit issuance for prescribed food prescription including:
◦ (Re)issuing of food/formula prescription benefits.
◦ Security of WIC Card stock.
- Performs other duties as needed, including quality assurance activities.
- Checks e-mail on daily basis to keep up with state, agency and program updates.
- Participate in state and local agency training.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- One year's general office experience with proficient computer skills.
- Experience in health care or community facility preferred.
- Sensitivity to the needs of the participant population.
- Good communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- Able to carry out typical administrative functions.
- Prioritization and organizational skills.
- Supports the mission and goals of the agency.
- Driver’s License is required.
Working conditions
- Travel to Framingham is required for new staff training at WIC TLC.
- Availability to work at multiple WIC sites and during program clinic hours, as needed.
- Must be able to sit at a desk to use computer and make phone calls.
- There is no potential exposure to blood borne pathogens.
Physical requirements
- Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 per hour
