What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crossbore - Site Superintendent position at Taplin Group, LLC?
: Oversee and manage crews, ensure job quality and safety, complete required project documentation and train new employees.
- Maintain humble presence with the crews. Illustrate servant leadership in both actions and words.
- Accept accountability for project outcomes.
- Oversee and manage crews during routine operations.
- Ensure operational readiness of the crew and equipment. This includes conducting pre-operational checks on vehicles and conducting on-the-job training for employees.
- Maintain knowledge on priority areas and entire work scope.
- Thoroughly inspect maps to ensure priority areas are complete and ready for work crews.
- Ensure and enforce compliance with all applicable safety rules and policies required by customer and Taplin Group LLC
- Provide input for employee evaluations.
- Inspect work in progress and completed work to ensure quality standards and customer expectations are met.
- Ensure crews are provided with the necessary equipment (e.g. gloves, rain gear, tools, etc.) and maintain a record of such issues.
- Responsible for conduct and actions of assigned crew.
- Coordinate equipment needs and issues with Project Management.
- Resolve on-the-job conflicts. Obtaining guidance from management when needed.
- Maintain job specific documentation including work logs, time records, etc.
- Remain on the on-call rotation
- Identify and ensure write-ups of defective equipment on vans or equipment. FRO
- or SR Form follow up.
- Improve knowledge of all aspects of the Crossbore program including CCTV
- units.
- Damage claims, repairs, resolving conflicts.
- Assist in troubleshooting production issues.
- Corrective action and Performance Improvement Plan participation.
- Procurement of supplies needed for work.
- Schedule participation.
- Training new hires in proper procedures and expectations.
- Provide leadership and training to more junior staff.
- Assist in resolving on the job conflicts.
- Provide feedback to Project Manager and other management personnel to assist in improving operational quality and efficiency.
- Ability to operate assets assigned to the cross bore work to include mainline/lateral inspection equipment, push cameras and electronic locators.
- Ability to lift, carry or pull equipment of various sizes, shape and weight.
- Perform confined space entry as required to facilitate inspections as needed.
- Inspect, use and maintain various personal protection equipment including safety harnesses and air monitoring equipment.
- Responsible for on-the-job safety of self and crews, including completing
required safety paperwork (JSA, LPO).
- Maintain equipment in a presentable and professional manner that represents
Taplin.
- Determine supplies necessary for daily operation of equipment.
- Maintain extra supplies.
- Emergency on-call response after normal work hours is required.
- Ensure professional and safe operation of vehicles while on customer property
- and over the road
- Setup and operate various hand-held and hand-operated equipment including power tools, shovels, etc.
- Responsible for his/her own on-the-job safety and work quality.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with FMCSR guidelines.
- Maintain hours of service logs (when required) accurately and up-to-date.
- Identify and ensure write-ups of defective equipment on trucks.
- Ensure professional and safe operation of vehicles while on customer property and over the road.
- Perform minor maintenance functions on trucks as needed while on the road.
· Clean driving record in accordance with the company’s current auto insurance carrier
- Maintain current CDL C (chauffer’s license)
- Able to understand basic equipment operating instructions and safe work practices
- Able to follow verbal and written instructions
- Must be professional and courteous
- Good math skills
- Must be thoroughly familiar with Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations
- Must have completed a defensive driving course or demonstrate defensive driving skills
- Must be able to work with little guidance and supervision
- Clean driving record as determined by the company’s current auto insurance carrier
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience 5-7 years
