COMMUNITY PATROL OFFICER

We are seeking professional men and women who want to be come Private Officers with in our Community Policing Unit, that have a passion to serve and protect others. Our Private Officers receive state recognized and accredited law enforcement training. We provide residential and commercial patrol, within the Grandview, Missouri area and beyond. Selected Individuals will receive (BOT) 88 hours of basic officer training. Don't have duty gear? We can provide you with all the necessary duty gear. Apply, join and grow with us!

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: to be completed within the first 120 days of employment. 88 hours BOT - Basic Officer Training

Selected individuals are required to meet or exceed the credentials of our (BOT) basic officer training program. This online program is provided to all employed individuals that do not currently have the necessary training. Not employed by TAPSKC? Call now to enroll in the training program, work at your own pace, from the comfort of your own home. Credentials provided by Police One Academy, a state recognized and accredited law enforcement training provider. www.policeoneacademy.com Unlimited access to over 1,500 hours of training content, video's and courses. ($35 monthly to outer agency)

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

18-21 years old (unarmed and/or firewatch) training cadets and dispatchers

21 years or older (required for armed positions) training cadets, officers and command staff

High school diploma or GED

Meet the background/criminal history requirements of the KCPD/ Private Officer's Licensing Unit.

Basic pistol certification from the NRA

JOB DESCRIPTION: The duties of a private TAPSKC officer cadet focuses on the preservation of life and property. An authorized and licensed Private Officer (cadet) provides a static physical uniformed officer presence, provides proactive policing of the areas they are assigned, which may include through multiple jurisdictions, respond to calls, enforce rules, enforce regulations, and laws; apprehend and/or detain suspects, issue code violations, and occasionally testify in court cases. Officers must exude a high level of integrity, morals and maintain reliability.

*Applications will be reviewed and processed into selected individuals. Applicants are required to consent to a multiple choice general knowledge test (31 questions in 20 minutes). Selected Individuals will be required to pass a physical agility course. These selected individuals will receive a phone interview. Upon successful completion of the phone interview, an onsite oral board interview will be scheduled.

BASIC OFFICER TRAINING (BOT) INCLUDES ALL OF THE FOLLOWING COURSE WORK: 88 hours of training

Airborne and Blood-borne pathogens, Ambush awareness and preparation, Anti-bias training for law enforcement, Anti-harassment in the workplace, Arrest search and seizure, Basic firearm safety NRA basic pistol, Bloodborne pathogens, Bloodborne pathogens for first responders, Civil Rights, Community Policing, Community Policing Strategies, Constitutional and community policing, Constitutional law, De-escalation and minimized use of force, Distracted driving for law enforcement, Driving while distracted, Eating right for health and fitness, Ethics in law enforcement, Firearm tactics, HIPPA for first responders, Holds and restraints, Identity theft crimes, Implicit bias, Interacting with the mentally ill as a first responder, Litigation procedures, Missing person's with Alzheimer's Disease, Off duty safety and ready, Officer liability, Officer safety and procedure in domestic violence response, Officer tactical training, Officer wellness and Mental Health Awareness, Opioid Crisis-protecting the first responders, Overcoming resistance-start with mental preparation, Preparing your response to challenging situations, Presenting effective testimony in a courtroom, Professional police driving, Driving University-distracted driving course, Public recording of police activities, Racial profiling part 1, Racial profiling part 2-data collection, Recognizing and responding to domestic violence, Responders at risk- protecting first responders from opioid exposure, Responding to people with mental illness, Responding to people with mental illness, School Resource Officers, Sexual harassment in the workplace, Shaping an ethical workplace culture, Social media and law enforcement, Subject precipitated homicide, Suicide by cop, Suicide prevention for law enforcement, Suspects in medical distress, Tactical Patrol Considerations, The LGBTQ Community, Understanding and Responding to Excited Delirium Calls, Use of Force, Using OC-oleoresin capsicum (nationally recognized by certified instructor) with video documented voluntary exposure, Using Social Media for Investigations, Vehicle Safety, Violence in the Workplace, Workplace Bullying. (most courses range from 1-2 hour certifications; other certified training courses earned from any outside or external source is subject to review and approval)
