Hours: 12-Hour Rotating Shifts (36 / 48)
Reports To: Extrusion Shift Supervisor
Job Overview
Responsible for safely performing all duties using required PPE and complying with safety rules while maintaining an efficient workflow and effective communication with employees. Ensure successful production and safe handling of plastic materials, prioritizing employee safety. Implement quality control processes for defects and package finished products according to customer order/Job jacket specifications.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Ensure compliance with all OSHA and Tara Plastics safety requirements, regulations, and company policies and procedures.
- Ensuring PPE is worn at all times as necessary.
- Checking product blends at beginning of every shift, or as required by supervisor/manager.
- Assist team members as needed, promoting cooperation and improving efficiency.
- Ensuring product weights and quality measurements are accurately recorded on shift paperwork (Production and Quality Reports).
- Reporting machine start-shift throughput, including changes or discrepancies to shift supervisor.
- Assisting with start-ups, shut-downs, and order changeovers across production lines on the manufacturing floor.
- Performing start-shift inspections of assigned machine and filling out pre-shift inspection reports.
- Housekeeping (sweeping, cleaning, wipe-downs, garbage).
- Communicate effectively with all employees.
- Tracking runtime/downtime, waste, quality issues, and concerns, and ensuring shift quality and production reports are accurate and clear.
- Webbing of assigned machine prior to start-up/post shut-down.
- Reporting any safety, quality, process issues, or concerns to shift supervisor.
- Ensure any alarms/alerts from assigned machine are satisfied or reported to shift supervisor.
- Ensuring the production floor and common areas are clean and stocked with adequate roll cores and packaging materials for the next shift.
- Reporting/recording running conditions throughout the shift to both the shift supervisor, and on the production report.
- Ensure labeling on finished products are accurate and satisfy customer specifications listed on order/job jacket.
Qualifications
Education:
- High School or Equivalent
Skills:
- Experience in extrusion manufacturing preferred but not required.
- Ability to understand and use basic arithmetic.
- Ability to read, oporate basic measurement tools (Scale, Tape Measure, Micrometer).
- Able to read and write English.
- Dependable, reliable.
- Punctual attendance.
- Work 12-hours shifts, walk or stand for extended periods of time. Be able to lift and or move up to 50lbs at a time.
- Ability to understand and follow directions according to shift supervisor or corresponding management personnel.
- Self motivated to perform, learn, and improve tasks and duties across extrusion production floor.
