JOB SUMMARY
The Convenience Store Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing daily store operations, ensuring profitability, maintaining high customer service standards, and managing staff effectively. This role also involves enforcing compliance with safety, security, and regulatory requirements, managing inventory, and driving sales performance. Additionally, the manager will oversee shared labor between the Tim Hortons Kiosk and the convenience store, ensuring efficient staffing, cross-training, and operational alignment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Store Operations & Sales (25%)
- Oversee daily store operations, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning.
- Develop and implement sales strategies to drive revenue and profitability.
- Monitor and analyze sales trends, adjusting inventory and promotions accordingly.
- Ensure proper merchandising, stock rotation, and shelf organization.
- Maintain store cleanliness, safety, and compliance with company standards.
Staff Management & Shared Labor Oversight (25%)
- Hire, train, schedule, and supervise store and Tim Hortons Kiosk employees.
- Implement a cross-training program to optimize shared labor efficiency between the convenience store and Tim Hortons Kiosk.
- Coordinate scheduling to balance labor needs between both operations, ensuring peak hours are covered effectively.
- Ensure employees follow company policies, customer service standards, and safety procedures for both store and food service operations.
- Conduct regular team meetings and provide performance feedback.
- Manage payroll, attendance, and employee performance reviews for both areas.
Inventory & Vendor Management (20%)
- Monitor and control inventory levels to minimize waste and shrinkage.
- Place orders with suppliers and negotiate vendor contracts.
- Conduct regular stock checks and audits to maintain accuracy.
- Ensure timely and accurate receiving of goods for both store and kiosk.
Customer Service & Community Engagement (20%)
- Ensure excellent customer service and handle customer inquiries or complaints.
- Implement promotions and loyalty programs to enhance customer retention.
- Engage with the local community to boost brand reputation.
Safety, Compliance & Financial Management (10%)
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and labor laws, including OSHA standards.
- Oversee food safety guidelines and procedures per local health department regulations for the Tim Hortons Kiosk.
- Ensure hazardous materials (e.g., cleaning supplies, fuel) are stored and handled correctly per safety protocols.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments for both store and kiosk operations.
- Implement loss prevention strategies, including security measures and employee theft prevention.
- Monitor and manage the store’s and kiosk’s budget, expenses, and financial reports.
- Handle cash management, including deposits and reconciliation for both operations.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCES
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3 years of experience in retail or convenience store management, preferably with food service experience.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of inventory control, cash handling, sales strategies, and budget tracking.
- Microsoft Office Suite Experience is preferred, general experience using MS office acceptable.
- Strong people management with importance in motivation and integrity.
- Familiarity with OSHA, food safety regulations, and workplace safety protocols.
- Experience managing shared labor between multiple business units.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
PHYSCAL REEQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the store and kiosk for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift), including bending, crouching, reaching, and using step stools.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items up to 50 lbs., such as inventory boxes, equipment, and supplies.
- Ability to operate POS systems, handle cash transactions, use office equipment, and perform stock handling tasks efficiently.
- Clear vision for reading labels and reports, strong hearing and speech abilities to communicate in a noisy environment, and quick reaction time for safety and customer service needs.
- Comfortable working in varying conditions, including cold storage areas, outdoor fueling stations, and food service areas with heat exposure.
- Schedule Flexibility & Emergency Response – Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays, while responding quickly to safety hazards, spills, and emergencies.
