JO B FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Technical Engineer for the Controls and Automation scope within large and small projects, as well as support to Operations.
- Evaluate, prepare and analyze designs of control systems including DCS Systems, PLC systems, alarm and safety shutdown systems.
- Develop / review power distribution 1-lines, DCS / PLC / SIS / ESD control systems, Control narratives, Cause and Effect Charts, area classification, control panel drawings, instrumentation specifications, and facility layouts.
- Direct work and review outside engineering contractors' designs, studies, drawings and material selections to ensure conformance with Targa specifications and standards.
- Be able to support and modify programming if needed within different systems.
- Participate in PHA, MOC's, and Hazops.
- Provide technical expertise and support for project construction and commissioning phases to include control system programming and configuration, factory and site acceptance testing, communications, loop checks, safety testing, and project startups.
- Work closely with project managers regarding C&A material and man-power budgets.
- Write procedures, organize workflow, and maintain schedules.
- Ensure that company standards and strategies comply with the latest industry practices, safety, environmental and process safety management requirements.
- Develop and maintain controls engineering specifications.
- Investigate and resolve problems associated with new or existing facilities control systems.
- Prepare budgetary and AFE quality cost estimates in addition to technical scopes of work.
- Participate in technical and industry conferences, making presentations when requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS :
Engineering or Technical degree from four-year college or university and 3 to 5 years of related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Technically competent with Microsoft Office Suite.Experience with control system designs of different architecture and manufacturers.Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently.Flexible during times of change.Persuasive, encouraging, and motivating (in communications with others including company employees and contract workers).Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments.Self-motivated and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.Strong interpersonal skills.Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and finding equipment needed for a project.Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.Basic understanding of preventative / predictive maintenance concepts and applications as it applies to control systems equipment.Knowledge applicable codes, government regulations, standards, pertaining to electrical systems such as NFPA, NEC, and API.Ability to interface effectively with wide range of technical, analytical and managerial personnel.Maintain a valid driver's license to include a safe driving record satisfactory to the companyRegular and reliable attendance.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Experience with engineering and design in Foxborough and ABB DCS systems.Experience with engineering and design in Allen Bradley PLC control systems.Experience with engineering and design in Emerson RX3I PLC control systems.Adept with process control and loop tuning.Ability to attain and maintain a TWIC card.WORK CONDITIONS :
Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, with the ability to respond to call outs as needed to fulfill business objective and the ability to work shifts for plant or field conditionsAbility to travel up to 10-15% of time.Ability to frequently throughout the work shift, push, pull and lift at least a minimum of 50lbs to a minimum height of 3-4 feet and maneuver equipment or parts as neededAbility to work outdoors in changing climate conditionsAble to work in close quarters : i.e., work while kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standingAbility to climb up and down ladders, stairs and platforms at varying heightsEQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY :
