Measurement Technician (Gas Tester)

POSITION SUMMARY : The Technician, Gas Testing, provides gas settlement testing, gas analyses, and metering station audit services in order to satisfy settlement testing and measurement provisions of gas contracts in addition to assisting in project development and economic new connects. The Gas Tester must have a mechanical aptitude and will gain a solid knowledge of the following : Conduct Chromatographic Gas Analyses, Metering Station Recording Equipment, Gas Testing, among othersJOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES : Audits meter stations for installation errors and primary element integrity to ensure contract compliance and consistency with industry and company standardsFill out applicable work / hot work permits, lockout / tagout documentation, attend and participate in tailgate sessions with others involved in work site activitiesInitiates and maintains potential new connect project filesMaintains instrument and control equipment data log sheets and computer based database and preventative maintenance system (TESTit 3)Maintains integrity of test results through systematic validation, periodic provings, maintenance and certification of test equipmentMakes routine and emergency calibrations and adjustments to correct abnormal operation of instruments and controllers and reports such conditions and corrective action to operatorsMonitor and recognize dangerous and / or emergency conditions within the process and perform procedures necessary to remove the condition or shutdown the process / facility in order to protect personnel, community, environment and equipmentPerforms new well deliverability and quality testsPerforms various gas quality tests. Provides chromatographic gas analyses for contract settlement by use of portable ABB 8206 gas chromatographPrepares audit quality documentation of settlement test, provings, analyses and measurement discrepanciesProves and / or calibrates metering station recording equipment to within limits prescribed by the manufacturerProvides new well test reports ad documentation relevant to economic evaluationRecognize malfunctions in individual equipment and perform maintenance as necessary to correct problemsWork with coworkers in the response to emergencies requiring coordination, equipment or plant shutdown, and / or evacuationWrite repair work requests for routine and major maintenance that cannot be handled as part of normal operations using MAXIMO Ensuring H2S, oxygen, and other inert gases stay with in dictated specificationsTracking down oxygen and water within the gathering linesCalibration of various Oxygen and H2S analyzersAssists with repairing and / or replacing faulty instruments, safety equipment andControls, and maintains instruments and control equipment in a clean and workable conditionOther duties as assignedMINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS : Solid computer skills to include Microsoft operating system and Office SoftwareRegular and reliable attendance requiredMinimum High School Diploma or EquivalentMinimum of 1-2 years of Gas settlement testingMaintain a valid driver's license to include a safe driving record satisfactory to the companyRegular and reliable attendancePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : Interpersonal communication skills are required in order to interface with all affected teams, personnel, and vendorsAssociates degree in instrumentation or equivalent training / experienceStrong work ethic with demonstrated ability to effectively work with minimum supervisionHighly organized and detail-orientedWell-grounded, preferring to work in a collegial and team environmentAbility to think critically, solve problems independently and exercise excellent judgment and common sense Have a basic understanding of industry standards (API and GPA)Familiar with ABB Totalflow, Micromotion Coriolis, and Sick Ultrasonic metersFamiliar with ABB 8206 and Agilent chromatographsPHYSICAL DEMANDS : Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, with the ability to respond to call outs as needed to fulfill business objective and the ability to work shifts for plant or field conditionsAbility to lift, push, and pull at least a minimum of 50lbsAbility to work in changing climate conditionAble to work in close quarters : i.e., work while kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standingFollow and adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines (ex : eye protection, footwear, Nomex)We maintain a drug-free workplace and perform pre-employment substance abuse testingThis role is subject to drug and alcohol testing, per applicable federal regulations or as required by TargaEQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY : Targa Resources provides equal employment opportunities based on merit, experience, and other work-related criteria and without regard to race, color, ethnicity, religion, national origin, sex, age, pregnancy, disability, veteran status, or any other status protected by applicable law.
