Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough eye examinations to assess visual acuity and diagnose ocular conditions.
- Provide appropriate treatment plans and recommendations based on examination findings.
- Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients on proper eye care practices and the use of corrective lenses.
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals as needed.
- Assist in the management of optical sales, including recommending eyewear options to patients.
- Perform essential tasks such as taking vital signs and utilizing aseptic techniques during procedures.
- Stay updated on advancements in optometry practices and technologies.
Requirements
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid state optometry license to practice.
- Strong knowledge of optical systems and medical coding practices.
- Experience in pediatrics or familiarity with pediatric eye care is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively.
- Proficiency in managing medical records and adhering to HIPAA standards.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment while maintaining professionalism.
- Previous experience in sales within an optical or healthcare setting is advantageous.
