Job Description:
As a Whole Good Sales Support Technician, your primary responsibility is to support whole goods sales by ensuring equipment is properly inspected, maintained, and prepared for customers. When whole goods work is unavailable, you will perform general repairs and maintenance as assigned by the Service Advisors. In addition to meeting recovery and efficiency metrics, you will ensure the facility remains clean and organized. You will also be expected to follow Bobcat documentation and warranty requirements to ensure compliance and proper reimbursement for warranty work. Flexibility and adaptability are key, as you will occasionally work in the field or at other locations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Whole Goods Sales Support:
- Conduct thorough inspections and necessary repairs to ensure whole goods equipment is in top condition before delivery.
- Complete all required Arrival Condition Reports (ACRs) and Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDIs) on new Bobcat equipment.
- Address any discrepancies, damages, or missing parts before equipment is delivered to customers.
- Keep new whole good inventory organized and easily accessible.
- Assist the WG salesman with loading and unloading trailers. Properly secure equipment for transport.
- Maintain communication with the sales and service teams to ensure smooth equipment transitions.
2. General Repairs & Maintenance:
- When whole goods work is not available, perform assigned maintenance and repairs on customer equipment and the internal rental fleet.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and other system issues.
- Complete work efficiently while maintaining high-quality service standards.
3. Tech Recovery (Recovery Rate Metrics):
- Focus on minimizing time spent on repairs to improve the recovery rate, calculated as time clocked in divided by time billed on the work order.
- Strive to meet or exceed a recovery rate goal of 80%, ensuring that actual time spent on repairs aligns with or is less than time billed to the customer or internal rental fleet.
- Track and report recovery rates to the Service Manager and actively seek ways to improve recovery performance.
4. Efficiency Performance (Efficiency Rate Metrics):
- Focus on completing repairs within the time estimated on the work order. Your efficiency rate will be calculated as time clocked in divided by time estimated on the work order.
- Aim to meet or exceed an efficiency rate goal of 100%, ensuring repairs are completed on time or faster, without compromising quality.
- Regularly review and track your efficiency rate to identify areas for improvement and work collaboratively with the SA's and PSM to improve future estimates.
5. Repair & Maintenance of Internal Rental Fleet:
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on the internal rental fleet, ensuring equipment is in top working condition with minimal downtime.
- Regularly inspect rental fleet equipment for wear and tear, repairing and maintaining it according to manufacturer specifications and company guidelines.
- Ensure that all internal rental fleet equipment is serviced and maintained per established schedules, tracking repairs, time spent, and parts used for performance evaluation.
6. Customer Service & Communication:
- Communicate repair progress and timelines to SA's clearly, setting realistic recovery time expectations.
- Provide feedback to SA's on any delays or issues, ensuring they are kept informed throughout the repair process.
- Collaborate with service, parts, and rental teams to maintain smooth equipment transitions and reduce recovery times.
7. Safety & Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols while performing repairs, both in the shop and in the field, ensuring the safety of yourself, your colleagues, and customers.
- Ensure repairs and maintenance on customer and rental equipment meet safety standards and manufacturer guidelines.
- Maintain safety practices while optimizing recovery and efficiency to avoid delays.
8. Daily Service Schedule Monitoring & Communication:
- Regularly monitor the daily service schedule to ensure that all repairs and maintenance are completed in a timely manner, without causing delays.
- Communicate with the SA and team if adjustments to the schedule are needed due to unforeseen issues, ensuring transparency and efficient rescheduling.
- Actively participate in daily briefings or meetings to assess workload and prioritize repairs, ensuring that customer commitments and internal fleet needs are met.
- Inform the SA of any equipment or scheduling issues that could impact service quality or recovery/efficiency goals, helping to address problems proactively.
9. Facility Cleanliness:
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace within the facility, ensuring that tools, parts, and equipment are stored properly.
- Clean up after repairs and ensure that any debris, fluids, or waste products are disposed of according to safety protocols.
- Regularly inspect and maintain the cleanliness of work areas, ensuring that the facility remains in a safe, organized, and efficient state.
- Ensure that cleanliness extends to equipment areas where repairs or maintenance are performed, reducing the risk of accidents or damage.
10. Field Work & Flexibility:
- As needed, perform repairs or maintenance at customer locations, construction sites, or other off-site locations.
- Be adaptable to working in varying environments, including field conditions and locations outside your main facility.
- Ensure that repairs performed in the field meet the same standards of quality and efficiency as those performed at the facility.
- Maintain proper equipment, supplies, and tools when working in the field, ensuring readiness for on-site repairs.
11. Bobcat Warranty Compliance:
- Follow all Bobcat warranty requirements when performing repairs and maintenance on Bobcat equipment to ensure proper warranty claims and reimbursement.
- Ensure that any work performed under warranty complies with Bobcat's specific guidelines, including parts usage, documentation, and repair procedures.
- Accurately document all warranty-related repairs, including required parts, labor, and any other information necessary for Bobcat warranty processing.
- Work closely with the Service Manager to ensure that all Bobcat warranty requirements are met and repairs are approved for reimbursement.
12. Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs regularly.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in various positions for extended periods.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to operate heavy machinery and equipment safely.
- Requires manual dexterity and the ability to handle tools and small parts efficiently.
13. Training & Development:
- Participate in ongoing training to stay current with equipment technologies, repair techniques, and best practices for recovery and efficiency.
- Work with the Service Manager to identify areas for improvement and receive feedback on performance to achieve recovery and efficiency goals.
- Stay up to date with safety protocols and any new tools or systems that may improve work quality or efficiency.
14. Reporting & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records for all repairs, including time clocked in, time billed, time estimated, and parts used.
- Track and report recovery and efficiency metrics to the Service Manager and provide input for improvements.
