Overall Focus:
Directs the Supply Chain functions of Planning, Scheduling, Warehousing, Transportation, Customer Service and Purchasing so that the plant can consistently achieve its targeted customer service levels with a minimum investment in inventories and distribution costs. Work as a communication liaison between the Supply Chain functions and manufacturing and sales through proactively communicating and/or resolving issues related to service, scheduling, and deployment.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Directs the Supply Chain functions of Planning, Scheduling, Warehousing, Transportation, Customer Service and Purchasing.
- Works as a communication liaison between the Supply Chain functions and manufacturing and sales through proactively communicating and resolving service issues and/or meeting business and customer needs.
- Responsible for a distribution strategy in support of achieving Targeted Pet Treat’s target customer service levels with a minimum investment in inventories and at the lowest possible cost.
- Responsible for business continuity of the plant.
- Oversees purchasing and inventory of ingredients, packaging and commodities, managing risk of obsolescence versus supply shortage.
- Directs all distribution and logistics activities at the plant and dedicated off-site warehouses including managing labor costs, productivity, inventory levels, inventory accuracy, and stocking strategies.
- Maintain controls and procedures to ensure optimum use of a warehouse locator system to maintain order accuracy and timeliness.
- Works with plant operations to identify opportunities to improve production cycles in order to reduce working capital while also maintaining or lowering total net landed costs.
- Directs the traffic function and takes appropriate action to ensure that carriers meet Targeted Pet Treat’s requirements.
- Prepares budgets and controls costs within established standards.
- Serves as a member of the plant leadership team in support of plant goals.
- Supports annual planning process for designated brands.
Qualifications – Knowledge and skills necessary to meet organizational objectives.
- Education/Training/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Business, or related area
- Experience: 5 years in Supply Chain, Distribution Management, Planning or Inventory Control in the food industry
- Specific Skills: Firsthand experience in utilizing traditional and/or automate on-line strategic sourcing process including RFQ/RFI creation. Strong understanding of MRP and material management.
