Overall Focus:
The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for the Quality and Food Safety of product and ingredients throughout the facility. This job description reflects management's assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned. The Quality Technician reports directly to the Quality and Food Safety Supervisor. The Quality Assurance Lab Technician will work alongside all departments to fulfill job requirements in a timely manner.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Assures there are accurate records kept of all products tested within the laboratory.
- Maintain and batch records from production
- Lead component and ambassador of Quality and Food Safety throughout the plant
- Perform daily laboratory testing including, but not limited to: Water Activity, Moisture, Hour Checks
- Perform plant wide equipment calibrations as needed
- Raw material sampling, testing, and recordkeeping of all incoming ingredients
- Sampling, testing, and recording of all incoming packaging
- Daily and shift checks to ensure regulatory compliance and SOP adherence throughout facility
- Environmental swabbing
- Perform non-conformance investigation and resolution
- Key component of the Hold and Release Program
- Knowledge of facility wide pest control and frequency of checks
- Familiarity with Critical Control Points and verification throughout facility
- Assumes responsibility for own personal development and continuous learning.
- Stays current with new technology, methods and regulations related to responsibilities.
- QA employees work in all types of conditions. There is a frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, occasionally lift, and push/pull up to 25 pounds, and perform other similar actions during the workday.
- Quality Assurance Technicians are responsible to take appropriate corrective action when the quality of the product does not meet specifications.
- Perform other duties as required by the Quality and Food Safety Supervisor
- Work alongside the Quality and Food Safety Supervisor, Quality Regulatory Compliance Specialist, and Coordinator of Quality Compliance, and all other TPT personnel to ensure work is done in an organized and timely manner
Qualifications – Knowledge and skills necessary to meet organizational objectives
- Education/Training/Experience: High School Diploma or GED; 1 years’ experience within laboratory setting, and/or food manufacturer is preferred.
- Computer Skills:
- Excel, Word, and Outlook used to complete daily tasks
- Certifications/Licenses: SQF & HACCP knowledge preferred
