The Division of Research, Innovation and Economic Development is seeking applications for Assistant Vice President (AVP), Research Development at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, TX.
The AVP for Research Development works to cultivate extramurally funded research and research development programs that contribute to the institution’s mission, vision, and strategic plan; expand and expand Tarleton State University’s research portfolio; and ensure the development, growth, and effectiveness of the institution’s research enterprise. The AVP for Research Development reports directly to the VP-RIED. This position is an in-person position located at the main campus in Stephenville, TX. Work hours being M-F 8AM – 5PM.
In cultivating extramurally-funded research, the AVP for Research Development identifies external funding sources aligned with institutional strategic goals, evaluates and aligns grant proposals with institutional needs, and leads an office that provides technical support to faculty, trainees, and students. The AVP works as a subject matter expert with faculty, staff, and external partners to develop proposals for external funding from public and private agencies, promoting research that fosters growth and enhances interdisciplinary collaboration, while advancing student learning and creative works at the University.
Preferred Qualifications:
- JD or Ph.D.
- Progressively responsible experience providing leadership and development of research and sponsored programs in a higher education setting.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization
- A minimum of five (5) years of related experience including 4 years of progressively responsible research administration experience in a higher education institution, government, or industry environment.
- A proven record of promoting scholarship, research and research partnerships
- Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
