The Budget Analyst, under direction, develops financial models, develops and maintains statistical models, and prepares projections, analyzes variances, and reports findings. Prepare reports and financial presentations. As a part of the Division of Finance & Administration, the budget team serves as a resource to all levels of management and entities within Tarleton to develop financial plans that support and align with the strategic plan and goals of the institution. This is an in-office position located in Stephenville, TX. Normal working hours are Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. Must have the ability to work remotely at the request of the university in times of inclement weather or other special circumstances.
Responsibilities:
- Assist university departments in all aspects of the budgetary process
- Preparation of Annual Budget and Legislative Appropriation Request
- Monitor and management of current year budgets and actuals
- Processing of personnel request as it relates to the impact of the institutions budget and finances
- Additional Duties include the preparation of reports, research and assessment of budget issues, conduct training, and provide appropriate guidance on budget matters to various stakeholders.
- Judgement/Problem Solving: Identifies problems and analyzes causes, recommends actions after evaluating alternative solutions with follow up to ensure corrections.
- Writes reports, letters, and other communicative means
- Receptive to feedback and constructive criticism

- Development of performance measures
- Input, analysis, and coordination of budget information into software system.
- Development of long-range financial forecasting model to assist for preparing annual budgets and decision making.
- May perform additional duties and projects as requested.
Minimum Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in applicable field, preferably in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or another related field.
- Three years of related experience
Preferred:
- Master’s Degree
- Experience in Higher Education/State Agency financial/Budgetary Activities

Commensurate with experience
Salary Range
The target base annual salary range is $49,370 to $84,311 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
