Empowering the community to alleviate hunger and improve health. That’s the mission, how will you drive it? The Manager, Distribution oversees all warehouse operations by managing warehouse staff, product receipt, storage and delivery of food to partner agencies.
Essential Responsibilities
- Manage team effectively including assigning daily work, cross-training employees and developing staff.
- Manage all aspects of distribution of product, storage, order picking and staging, including picking sheets, pallet tags, and other documentation.
- Ensure that the inventory is maintained accurately and support Inventory Control in develop, implement, and review all cycle and inventory counting systems, the stock rotation process and supporting policies and procedures.
- Maintain safety audits. Monitor compliance with TAFB, Feeding America, AIB and OSHA safety standards
- Ensure the warehouse is maintained according to Feeding America Safe Food Handling and AIB standards.
- Conduct and attend staff meetings and participate in team planning sessions
- Assist Director, Distribution in maintaining warehouse expenses within budget
- Prepare appropriate reports, such as error log, overtime, and KPIs
- Assist Facilities Manager with maintaining facility, equipment and vehicles to ensure preventative and repair maintenance programs are completed in a proficient manner
- Assist in conducting regular inspections to ensure the safety of all food bank operations
- Consult with Human Resources on all major decisions including hiring, change of status, discipline and termination; submit HR documents in a timely manner
- During an emergency, provide efficient response to activities over and above normal operations to ensure warehouse, staff, volunteer and agency needs are met
- Engage in self-development activities to strengthen skills required for position
- Perform other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
- Education and Experience
High school graduate or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred and a minimum of 5 years warehouse management experience; Knowledge of HACCP
- Supervisory Responsibility
Manage and train employees; plan, assign and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems
- Technical Proficiencies
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office and inventory control software; forklift certification
- Communication Skills
Excellence in speaking, writing and presenting information; ability to write reports and procedure manuals; capable of interpreting operational reports
- Other Competencies
Ability to lead, mentor and motivate a team; knowledge of inventory control practices; ability to train staff on how to safely operate a forklift and pallet jack; high degree of accuracy and attention to detail; compassion for our mission
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Work in a warehouse environment
- Frequent standing, walking, lifting and pulling up to 50 pounds
- May encounter exposure to fumes and/or airborne particles, and hear moderate to loud noise from warehouse equipment
- Requires work schedule flexibility with occasional weekend and evening availability
