Nutrition Educator

Overview

The Nutrition Educator provides support for nutrition education programs and assists the Community Nutrition team with special projects.

Responsibilities

1. Facilitate nutrition education programs including cooking and garden workshops, community garden workdays, and Farmer Market Nutrition Program events.
2. Orient, train, and lead volunteers.
3. Coordinate or provide support for community events.
4. Prepare and update program materials.
5. Perform administrative tasks, such as scheduling and filing.
6. Gather and input data for reporting requirements.
7. Maintain strong understanding of all TAFB programs.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience                                   

Associate degree in nutrition, culinary or education field preferred and 2 – 3 years of experience in similar or related role; Dietetic Technician, Registered preferred

Technical Proficiencies

Working knowledge of virtual meeting platforms, Microsoft Office Word, Excel, desktop publishing software; experience with nutrition software a plus

Communication Skills       

Excellence in speaking, writing, and presenting information to diverse audiences

Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred; Bilingual in Vietnamese and English a plus

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

This position requires frequent walking, standing, sitting and occasional lifting up to 40 pounds. Pushing, pulling, reaching and stair climbing may be required when moving training materials, arranging rooms, setting up equipment, etc.

Occasional travel in service areas; must have reliable transportation and possess a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance (mileage reimbursement provided).

Requires work schedule flexibility with occasional weekend and evening availability.
