Summary

As the intermediate supervisor, oversee the operation of the Constable's Office. Serve civil process and warrant papers; investigate criminal law violations; and file cases with the Justice Court and District Attorney's Office.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Executes civil process and writs
  • Executes warrants
  • Makes arrests and detains suspects
  • Assists the Texas Attorney General's Office, the District Attorney's Office and Probation departments with making arrests
  • Assists all federal, state and local law enforcement agencies
  • Collects money on executions
  • Provides security for the courthouse and serves as bailiff
  • Patrols area and maintains awareness of the precinct for crime prevention
  • Prepares all court documents for return after execution
  • Provides enforcement at civil standbys
  • Performs traffic enforcement duties
  • Supervises Deputy Constable in technical situations; performs and documents performance evaluations and counsels/disciplines individuals as needed
  • Conducts internal affairs/citizen complaint investigations as needed, reporting results to the head of agency/elected official
  • May serve as the Field Training Officer (FTO) for all new employees, ensuring training and annual firearms qualifications are met for all deputies and employees as required
  • Assists with the budget process; evaluates department needs, prepares and presents budget to the County Commissioners Court for approval; monitors spending accordingly
  • Assumes Constable's duties in his or her absence
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

NOTE: YOU MUST FILL OUT THE WORK HISTORY and EDUCATION SECTIONS OF APPLICATION TO SHOW YOU HAVE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION AS REQUIRED BY HIRING DEPARTMENT OR BE DISQUALIFIED.

  • Bachelor's degree or higher five (5) full-time years related law enforcement work experience -or-
  • Associate degree seven (7) full-time years related law enforcement work experience -or-
  • High School Diploma or GED nine (9) full-time years related law enforcement work experience. A minimum of three (3) years of supervision and administrative experience preferred.
  • Certified Advanced Peace Officer License required. Master Certification desired.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License Required

If hired, must provide proof of educational attainment

at New Hire Processing or during the promotional process.

Tarrant County will conduct background checks that will include a criminal background check and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records, educational attainment, or additional State or Federal legal requirements.

Physical Demands And Work Environment & Other Requirements

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, run, kneel and twist the upper body. Use of a vehicle is required to perform the essential job functions. Incumbent must be able to respond to emergency situations which may include the use of physical force.
