Primary Duties And Responsibilities
Essential Performance Requirements*
- Uses existing and emerging technologies to enhance library services and instruction
- Assists in reviewing and revising appropriate guidelines and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the libraries
- Trains and supervises support staff and student workers as directed
- Gathers and compiles data, creates reports, and analyzes library statistics; assists in making data-based recommendations for continuous improvement
- Collaborates with faculty to develop instruction opportunities and learning objectives to meet the needs of students and the college community; provides orientations, tours, class presentations, and online learning objects that support successful development of information literacy and research skills
- Serves on search advisory committees to select new employees as needed
- Assumes responsibility for library operations as directed in the absence of the Director and Assistant Director
- Assists in developing, maintaining, and evaluating the collection to support instructional programs, community needs, and lifelong learning pursuits
- Participates in campus and College committees as appropriate
- Helps to promote library awareness and use, markets library resources and programs to students, faculty and staff
- Stays informed on changing professional practices and advancements in the fields of libraries, student learning, and academic technology
- Works with other members of the library, learning commons, campus, and College to meet the goals and mission of the library and the college
- Travels throughout Tarrant County as needed
- Promotes and maintains an effective learning environment in the Learning Commons
- Actively participates in college-wide conversation on student engagement and success
- Assists in building and maintaining community relations including faculty, staff, students, administrators, and the community to promote the library and the college; presents a positive image of the College’s academic support services
- Performs other related responsibilities as necessary to advance and ensure the success of the Learning Commons
- Identifies, cultivates, and develops effective and innovative outreach and engagement activities, making direct connections to students, faculty, staff, and the community at large to actively promote the role of the library as a partner and supports collaborations and activities that enhance student, faculty, and staff success at all levels
- Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
- Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
- Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College

Required Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited program
- Two (2) years’ working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements
- At least one (1) year’s working experience working in a community college library setting
- At least one (1) year’s working experience assisting students with research projects
- At least one (1) year’s working experience working closely with student services or programs, providing direct support and instruction to students
- Participation in local, regional, state, or national professional library and learning organizations
- Knowledge of effective instructional methods and different learning styles
- Knowledge of library instruction and learning objectives development
- Knowledge of automated library systems and web applications, utilizing online databases
- Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal relationships including strong listening, verbal, and written communication
- Skilled using computer applications and enterprise systems, including the Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
- Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate a wide range of problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume
- Ability to analyze data and provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations while exhibiting strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy
- Ability to delegate work appropriately to faculty and staff to meet College and campus deliverables
