Reporting to the Director of Research within the Office of Institutional Research, responsibilities of the Research Analyst include data: collection, analysis, interpretation and reporting. The job requires technical familiarity with utilizing databases, knowledge of methodologies for quantitative and qualitative analysis, using statistical software, and summarizing data results.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Performance Requirements
- Uses software packages (e.g. SPSS, Microsoft Excel, Lightcast, etc.) for statistical and analytical purposes to produce descriptive statistics, longitudinal/predictive analyses, and other derivable reports/models specific to analytical software
- Collaborates with Institutional Research staff to provide timely, relevant, and accurate institutional information to internal and external audiences
- Assists in summarizing and producing reports, models, and summaries of data on relevant job market conditions, industry trends, and demographic/workforce information
- Works with large complex data sets, including exporting/importing and merging from various sources, cleaning data files, and maintaining historical records
- Prepares reports summarizing data and analyses for multiple audiences, including the creation of clear and effective charts and tables
- Supports the presentation of original research by contributing written, infographic, and video content requiring excellent writing skills, curiosity, and creativity
- Supports Institutional Research staff by proofreading reports, correspondence, and statistical tables for accuracy and completeness, as well as helping to reconcile discrepancies and investigate data anomalies
- Maintains security of confidential student and employee information
- Assists Institutional Research staff with departmental outreach by supporting them on collaborative projects, including the design and analysis of quantitative and qualitative research projects
- Assists with the creation, implementation, and summarization of institutional surveys
Service Excellence
- Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations
- Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
- Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through the Tarrant County College (TCC) Institute
Supervision
Works under the general supervision of Director of Research
- Performs other related tasks as required

Required Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in math/statistics, computer science, social/behavioral/natural sciences, or a related field
- Two (2) years’ working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements
- Master’s degree in math/statistics, computer science, social/behavioral/natural sciences, or a related field
- At least one (1) year’s working experience in accessing data from multiple sources and merging them to perform analyses
- At least one (1) year’s working experience presenting data in oral, written, and visual forms
- At least one year’s working experience with external reporting, including data collections for National Student Clearinghouse, IPEDS, CBM reporting, and CCSSE/SENSE
- Skilled in the effective collection, organization, analysis, and reporting of data, including large data sets; using this information to develop sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and regulations
- Skilled in leading presentations to all levels of attendants, including executive and leadership by utilizing multiple forms of media and technology to communicate various types of information which may be technical or complex
- Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal relationships, including strong listening, verbal, visual, and written communication
- Skilled in using computerized applications and enterprise systems, including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
- Ability to adaptively perform and prioritize multiple tasks and projects seamlessly, ensuring accurate and timely completion, while exhibiting strong attention to detail and organization

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
