What are the responsibilities and job description for the CHIEF DEPUTY CONSTABLE - Constable Pct. 6 position at Tarrant County?
As the intermediate supervisor, oversee the operation of the Constable's Office. Serve civil process and warrant papers; investigate criminal law violations; and file cases with the Justice Court and District Attorney's Office.
1. Executes civil process and writs
2. Executes warrants
3. Makes arrests and detains suspects
4. Assists the Texas Attorney General's Office, the District Attorney's Office and Probation departments with making arrests
5. Assists all federal, state and local law enforcement agencies
6. Collects money on executions
7. Provides security for the courthouse and serves as bailiff
8. Patrols area and maintains awareness of the precinct for crime prevention
9. Prepares all court documents for return after execution
10. Provides enforcement at civil standbys
11. Performs traffic enforcement duties
12. Supervises Deputy Constable in technical situations; performs and documents performance evaluations and counsels/disciplines individuals as needed
13. Conducts internal affairs/citizen complaint investigations as needed, reporting results to the head of agency/elected official
14. May serve as the Field Training Officer (FTO) for all new employees, ensuring training and annual firearms qualifications are met for all deputies and employees as required
15. Assists with the budget process; evaluates department needs, prepares and presents budget to the County Commissioners Court for approval; monitors spending accordingly
16. Assumes Constable's duties in his or her absence
17. Performs all other related duties as assigned

Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Minimum of five (5) years related law enforcement experience. A minimum of three (3) years of supervision and administrative experience preferred. Certified Advanced Peace Officer License required. Master Certification desired. Valid Texas Driver's License.

Tarrant County will conduct background checks that will include a criminal background check and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records, educational attainment, or additional State or Federal legal requirements.While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, run, kneel and twist the upper body. Use of a vehicle is required to perform the essential job functions. Incumbent must be able to respond to emergency situations which may include the use of physical force.
