Summary
Perform professional level duties on a day-to-day basis to achieve the short-term goals of the work group. Assist with the coordination of the Public Health Department communications, public information and media relations activities which serve to promote the public's awareness in all area of health and enhance the community's well being. Assist with the coordination of public relations to the media, elected officials, public and private agencies and citizens to promote the Public Health Department's mission.

- 1. Assists with field inquiries from the media, public and professional community in coordination with the Director and Senior Public Information Officer.2. Speaks publicly.3. Assists with all aspects of media relations.4. Assists in promoting the department in the community.5. Assists with development of routing public information and special campaign engaging the community and target audiences effectively.6. Organizes and performs special research and other projects.7. Writes, scripts and speeches.8. Facilitates tours.9. Assists and coordinates appropriate public relations and information with the County Administrator Public Information Officer ensuring appropriate communications.10. Assists and coordinates professional and community seminars, conferences and workshops.11. Gathers information and data and performs basic professional level analysis. May recommend actions and participate in implementation of programs, policies or other professional activities.12. Troubleshoots and resolves basic problems and issues.13. Communicates with appropriate staff or citizens in the performance of duties.14. Develops, designs, and produces print materials and publications with effective follow-through and commitment to excellence.15. Documents and maintains required records databases and statistics as it pertains to departmental and work group operations.16. Ensures compliance with any or all applicable laws, statutes, regulations and policies and may update staff or work group on applicable changes.17. May recommend and develop departmental procedures.18. May assist or train lower level staff.19. May direct work of clerical and support staff.20. Maintains and updates files.21. Prepares and produces periodic management or special reports.22. Performs all other related duties involved in the operations of the Public Health Department as assigned or required.
Minimum Requirements

TO APPLY, must have a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Advertising and Art or related field.
TO APPLY, must have Minimum of three (3) years related experience.
Must have highly-developed communication skills and techniques, verbal and written accuracy following Associated Press Stylebook guidelines.
Must be proficient with computer graphics software, photography and video.
Spreadsheet and/or word processing software experience or specialized software applications required.
Intermediate verbal and written communication and presentation skills for staff and public presentations.
If hired, must provide proof of educational attainment
at New Hire Processing or during the promotional process.
Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudications in the past Seven years and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment.
