Position Summary
The Estimating Supervisor ensures the timely and accurate preparation of cost estimates for prospective projects, playing a key role in the Company’s project planning and bidding processes. This role involves leading and mentoring the Estimating team, delegating tasks, and coordinating closely with Engineering and Sales Departments to ensure seamless collaboration and alignment with client requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
The following represents most of the duties performed by the position but is not meant to be all inclusive nor prevent other duties from being assigned when necessary.
1. Manage Daily Operations: Oversee the Estimating Department's daily operations, including activities and workflow management, to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
2. Facilitate Cross-Departmental Communication: Serve as the primary liaison between the Estimating Department and Administrative, Sales, Engineering, Executive, Project Management, and Operations teams to coordinate and streamline proposal development.
3. Oversee Estimator Workload: Monitor and balance the workload among Estimators, ensuring the timely processing and delivery of accurate proposals.
4. Implement and Maintain Standards: Develop, implement, and regularly update technical estimating standards and procedures to ensure alignment with industry best practices and company goals.
5. Engage in Strategic Meetings: Actively participate in bid review meetings and other internal/external meetings to offer valuable insights and recommendations to leadership, supporting strategic decision-making while ensuring alignment with project objectives.
6. Support Estimators: Provide guidance and support to Estimators on complex project estimates and ensure adherence to company standards.
7. Create Estimates and Proposals: Develop estimates and proposal for complex projects as workload requires to meet deadlines and maintain department throughput.
8. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements within the estimating workflow and implement enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
9. Performance Evaluation: Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and support the professional development of Estimators to maintain a high-performing team.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
1. A high school diploma or GED certificate required.
2. Five to seven years’ estimating experience, preferably in tanks, structural steel, coatings, or similar manufacturing and construction products.
3. Three years of supervisory experience.
4. Any appropriate combination of education and experience.
Skills
An ability to utilize computer hardware and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel software.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to read and comprehend construction plans and specifications.
Proven record of successful management of subordinates with effective leadership, coordination and motivation skills.
Excellent communication skills are required to transmit and exchange information with personnel in various departments and external contacts.
Good organization with the ability to multitask and prioritize independently to meet deadlines consistently.
Working Relationships/Contacts
Frequent internal contacts are required with management and employees at all levels.
External contacts are frequently required with sub-contractors and other vendors.

The duties of this position are primarily performed in a climate controlled office environment. The noise level in the primary work environment is generally quiet. Outdoor site visits may be required. The outdoor work environment may have exposure to inclement weather, extreme cold and heat and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in this environment may be loud.
Salary : $70,000 - $80,000
