POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Strategic Account Manager (SAM) supports and expands relationships with Tarter Farm and Ranch’s key strategic clients. This high-visibility role is responsible for achieving sales growth and accomplishing strategic account objectives. The Strategic Account Manager represents the entire range of company products and services to assigned clients and ensures that client needs are met. Assigned clients may change based on company needs. Additional responsibilities include leading the account planning process, identifying new strategic business opportunities, and ensuring client expectations are consistently exceeded.
To excel, the Strategic Account Manager must demonstrate professionalism, the ability to manage their portfolio independently, and work effectively in cross-functional teams. They must possess exceptional communication skills, patience, determination, and business acumen, all while showcasing Tarter’s capabilities with every client interaction.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establishes productive, professional relationships with key stakeholders in assigned strategic accounts.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, including active listening and problem-solving, to address the unique needs of both new and established strategic accounts.
- Collaborates across departments, involving company personnel, support services, and management, to meet account performance objectives and customer expectations.
- Serves as a liaison between strategic clients and internal departments, ensuring efficient communication and problem resolution.
- Meets assigned targets for profitable sales volume and strategic goals in designated accounts.
- Leads an integrated account planning process that develops mutual performance objectives, financial targets, and critical milestones over one and three-year periods.
- Proactively assesses, clarifies, and addresses customer needs, leading solution development efforts to best meet those needs while coordinating company resources.
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND PERFORMANCE MEASURES:
- Achievement of assigned sales targets within designated strategic accounts.
- Meeting profitability expectations for assigned accounts.
- Attainment of key account objectives as defined by company leadership.
- Development and execution of business plans for strategic accounts that align with company standards.
- Maintaining high customer satisfaction ratings in alignment with company benchmarks.
- Completion of required training and development objectives within the specified timeframe.
ORGANIZATIONAL ALIGNMENT:
- Collaborates with sales specialists, implementation resources, service teams, and other sales and production personnel as needed.
- Coordinates executive involvement in client management as required.
- Works closely with Customer Service Representatives, Territory Managers, Marketing, and Engineering to ensure client satisfaction and resolve issues.
- The position may have direct reports assigned to support specific client responsibilities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in related fields, with a minimum of 5 years of direct sales, market development, or application engineering experience with strategic accounts.
- Knowledge of the agricultural, large-retail ag chain, and equipment markets.
- Proven track record in value selling to high-level client decision-makers.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams to translate customer needs into effective solutions.
- Familiarity with CRM software (e.g., Hubspot, Salesforce, Epicor, etc.).
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, business analytics, and collaboration skills.
TRAVEL:
- Minimum 25% travel domestically, with potential international travel. This position is North America-based and can be remote.
