Job Responsibilities
Including the following (other duties may be documented and assigned by management and some duties may not apply dependent upon the requirements of the position at each specific Tarter site and/or the strengths of the employee and the needs of the company):
- Maintain electronic log system to record hours traveled and off time and ensure that all necessary documentation is submitted.
- Record damages and shortages incurred, and make sure all receipts are kept safe and secure.
- Observe and comply with all traffic regulations – federal, state and local.
- Inspect assigned vehicle and trailers to identify and repair minor findings and report major findings to garage. Also checks on tires and time for preventative maintenance and communicates to the garage.
- If needed, assist with loading and unloading as needed.
- Communicate daily with the supervisor using the electronic system or text.
- Ensure safe delivery of incoming or outgoing freight.
- Ensure that the assigned vehicle is kept clean and tidy.
- Report any delays that will affect timely delivery or pickups.
- Report any accident or damage to the truck, trailer, or load to the Supervisor immediately.
- Be able to pay tolls or minor repairs to be reimbursed at the end of the trip.
Knowledge, skills & abilities:
- Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Effective interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills required.
- This position performs job duties in an ethical and professional manner.

- Have all the proper license to drive commercial heavy-duty vehicles.
- Be able to communicate in a clear and concise manner.
- Average numerical skill is important as he or she may have to collect payments from customers.
- Must be of legal working age (21).
- Be experienced and have a clean driving record.
- Physical strength is necessary in strapping and unstrapping loads.
- Must be able to be away from home as required.
- Must be willing to work weekends.
- Must have a Class A CDL and medical card.
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
- Must have excellent communication and written skills.
- Able to lift up to 40lbs.
- Works in all weather conditions; this includes rain, snow, and sleet along with extreme hot and cold temperatures.
