The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the General Ledger Accounting function by conducting balance sheet analysis and reconciliation, journal entry preparation, intercompany accounting, and fixed asset accounting. The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the General Ledger Accounting function by conducting balance sheet analysis and reconciliation, journal entry preparation, intercompany accounting, and fixed asset accounting. The incumbent in this role will also prepare reports as requested, analyze, and reconcile general ledger accounts including balance sheets and expense accounts.
Staff Accountant Job Duties
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including the general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Reconcile bank accounts and other balance sheet accounts.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Analyze financial data and identify discrepancies.
- Prepare various financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Assist with budget preparation and variance analysis.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to management.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards and regulations.
- Assist with audits and tax preparation.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field required.
- 5 years of experience in accounting preferred.
- Working knowledge of IFRS and/or US GAAP.
- Proficiency in common software including all Microsoft Office software applications.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP preferred but not required.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information/documents.
- Strong understanding of US tax law/regulations
- Strong knowledge of MS Excel including pivot tables, v-look ups and other calculating functions
