What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Technician position at TAS Environmental Services?
Position reports to the Branch General Manager and/or Supervisor. General duties include, but are not limited to the following:
COMPETENCIES/SKILLS
- Key job competencies for an environmental field technician include: strong observation skills, technical proficiency with field equipment, knowledge of environmental regulations, data collection and analysis skills, ability to work outdoors in various conditions, excellent communication skills, critical thinking, teamwork, and a strong understanding of basic biology, chemistry, and environmental science principles
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Handling various products, hazardous and non-hazardous materials
- Performing industrial work and biohazard cleanups
- Staging, profiling, and processing for disposal hazardous and non-hazardous waste
- Assist in the removal of soil, debris and other materials, and cleaning up spill sites
- Operate and clean equipment.
- Maintaining logs of working hours in compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations
- Up to 25% travel as needed - location may differ
- Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION REQUIRMENTS
- 2-5 years truck driving experience preferred.
- HAZWOPER and Confined Space certifications
PHYSICAL/ MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing at times. The employee must frequently lift or move items up to 60 pounds. Must be able to frequently climb stairs and ladders. May occasionally deal with heights. Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, employees and managers. Effective conflict resolution abilities. Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form. Ability to read, write and do mathematics. Ability to wear Personal Equipment, including Respiratory Protection. Consist of both office setting and physical jobsite. Able to work in confined spaces when needed.
Class C (Texas) or equivalent required
