SUMMARY
The CNC Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing production equipment to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of machinery. The technician will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Adhere to and actively review company safety policies and practices to ensure compliance.
- Perform preventive maintenance on production machinery, including following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer instructions, and engineering specifications.
- Troubleshoot mechanical malfunctions by observing equipment, listening for issues, and using precision measuring and testing tools.
- Dismantle defective machinery, removing faulty parts using hoists, cranes, and hand/power tools.
- Minimize downtime by communicating maintenance schedules and ensuring adherence to procedures with the Production Manager and CNC Supervisor.
- Fabricate repair parts utilizing machine shop tools and equipment.
- Monitor and maintain inventories of equipment, parts, and supplies, placing orders as needed and verifying receipts.
- Provide mechanical maintenance information and respond to inquiries regarding equipment and procedures.
- Prepare and maintain mechanical maintenance reports, tracking issues, resolutions, and trends using company systems (e.g., SharePoint).
- Maintain and enhance technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing publications, and networking with industry professionals.
- Ensure proper communication among work teams regarding actions taken, irregularities, and ongoing needs.
- Promote a safe, clean work environment by adhering to all procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Contribute to team goals and complete other tasks as necessary.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an equipment mechanic role or equivalent.
- Ability to diagnose and repair PLC systems and related electrical controllers.
- Strong ability to interpret technical manuals and understand equipment controls.
- Ability to interpret diagrams and /or schematics to diagnose and repair pneumatic, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Knowledge and application of OSHA standards and company safety procedures.
- Practical knowledge and safe operation of hand/power tools (e.g., screwdrivers, wrenches, drills) and machinery (e.g., man lifts, forklifts).
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and others in the workplace, with sensitivity to professional ethics, cultural diversity, and inclusiveness.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to follow both written and oral instructions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- The role requires the ability to work in a manufacturing setting with potential exposure to noise, chemicals, odors, dust, and dirt. Strict adherence to safety protocols is necessary to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.
- This position may require occasional extended hours, including weekends and evenings, as well as out-of-town travel for overnight assignments.
- The employee must be able to stand for long periods, handle physical tasks, including lifting, carrying, grasping, and moving parts or equipment as needed up to 50 lbs.
