As a premium retail store located in the heart of the Shaw community of Washington, DC, the General Manager of The Urban Grape is responsible for providing direct oversight of all daily functions of the brick and mortar store. The purpose of this role is to provide strong systems implementation; daily management for the staff; and oversight of customer service, event execution, and logistics; as well as maintaining the look and feel of all sales outlets. The General Manager is responsible for fostering a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, safety and excitement within the store, while achieving the primary goal of meeting or surpassing sales targets and KPIs.We’re looking for a dynamic and driven General Manager to lead our team, enhance customer experiences, and drive business growth via sales, creative partnerships, and out of the box thinking.Sales and Business ManagementLead by example on the sales floor, providing personalized wine recommendations and empowering staff for upselling when working with customers.Set clear sales targets for individual team members and monitor progress. Implement and drive the sales strategies to achieve or surpass monthly and annual sales goals. Recognize achievements, and coach staff on areas for improvement.Analyze and report on sales data to identify trends, track KPIs, and adjust strategies to maximize profitability.Empower staff to take ownership of outbound sales, including follow-ups with return customers to drive store and online traffic by encouraging team members to create and maintain long-term relationships with customers, offering personalized recommendations, and ensuring repeat business.Function as lead manager to the brick and mortar staff, including job training on company procedures and policies, up-selling during client experiences and building customer relationships.Delegate social media and newsletter tasks in support of the sales goals of the store as based on needs of the marketing department.Leadership and DevelopmentParticipate in management meetings to ensure all functions of the business are working efficiently and productively. Work with the management team to set a plan of action that achieves the sales goals on a weekly and monthly basis.Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies.Coordinate the hiring, internal promotion, and on rare occasions discipline and termination of employees. Function as an active and engaging manager to keep the staff progressing on their desired career paths while reducing the need for discipline.Maintain company access to software systems, company websites, and password protected customer credit card data.Develop bi-weekly shift schedule for employees, including any time off requests and complete bi-weekly payroll. Prepare and delegate daily work assignments for sales associates that includes stocking, creating displays, responding to customer requests, order fulfillment, and maintaining the cleaning schedule.Maintain the stability and reputation of the store by complying with legal requirements.Event OversightWork with the National Beverage Director to plan a diverse range of public tastings ensuring a seamless experience for attendees by providing the sales team with direction of assignments and expectations.Manage the in-store staff and wine educators for day of public and private event operations, assigning roles and responsibilities to ensure efficient follow through.Oversee the creation of all necessary event and store collateral materials, including but not limited to : public tasting signage, private event booklets, tasting mats, monthly store specials, etc.Engage with customers to gather feedback and share with leadership for evaluating event success through post-event analysis.Store Operations and LogisticsWork with the Senior Director of Operations on strategies to reduce costs and improve procedures of supply chain logistics. Negotiating best pricing with an array of suppliers as well as sourcing new vendors as sees fit for the company.Ensure timely and accurate processing of online orders, from order receipt printing to packaging and delivery / shipping fulfillment.Support shipping efforts with relationships of various logistics companies from label creation, tracking monitoring, reshipping damages and fulfillment.Maintain inventory for the store by working closely with the National Beverage Director, collaborating to ensure that online product availability matches in-store stock levels. Keep track of best sellers, seasonal trends, and low-stock items for efficient reordering.Protect employees and customers by ensuring the store is clean, organized, and visually appealing, maintaining high standards of merchandising and product presentation.Customer ExperienceResolve customer concerns in an expeditious and tactful manner.Build and nurture lasting relationships with customers, encouraging repeat business and referrals.Oversee customer service channels (email, phone) to resolve any inquiries or issues promptly, maintaining a high standard of customer satisfaction.Perform other related duties as assigned.QualificationsProven experience (3 years) as a General Manager, Store Manager, or Assistant Manager, preferably in a retail or wine-focused environment.Strong understanding of wine, spirits, and beverage.ABRA Manager License certification.Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.Demonstrated ability to drive sales growth.Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays.#J-18808-Ljbffr
