What are the responsibilities and job description for the NX Tool Designer position at Tata Technologies?
ACTIVE CLEARENCE IS A MUST
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented NX Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in creating and designing NX models integrated with Part Manufacturing Inspection (PMI) data and characterization. As an NX Designer, you will be responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the design are represented clearly, with accurate measurements, tolerances, and annotations that comply with manufacturing and inspection requirements. The role will involve working closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet the required standards for performance, quality, and manufacturability as per the Industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
NX Modeling: Develop 3D models using Siemens NX (Unigraphics) CAD software, ensuring they are fully detailed and meet project specifications. TDP [Technical Data Packages] also includes derivative files 3D pdf, STEP 214 and QIF file to be created from the Nx model with PMI and characterization.
Generate TDP and document best practices in Illustrated Function Steps (IFS) format.
TDP and best practices illustration to be created using customer Drafting room manual and ASME 2018 Y14.5 and other Industry best practices
- Part Manufacturing Inspection (PMI): Integrate PMI data into NX models, including dimensional annotations, tolerances, and other relevant specifications required for manufacturing processes.
- Characterization: Work with manufacturing teams to characterize design features, material properties, and assembly characteristics to ensure models are aligned with production requirements.
- Documentation & Reporting: Generate detailed reports and documentation for all designs, including PMI annotations and technical drawings, to ensure clear communication of design intent for production and quality control teams.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and quality assurance teams, to review and refine models and drawings.
- Design Optimization: Provide design feedback based on manufacturability and inspection data, helping to optimize products for cost, time, and material efficiency.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest NX software capabilities and best practices in PMI and part characterization to continually enhance workflow and product quality.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- NX Expertise: Proficient in Siemens NX CAD software with a strong understanding of part modeling, assemblies, and drawing generation.
- PMI Experience: Hands-on experience with incorporating Part Manufacturing Inspection (PMI) into 3D models, including dimensioning, tolerances, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Characterization Knowledge: Understanding of material characterization, part functionality, and how to apply these characteristics in design and manufacturing processes.
- Attention to Detail: Strong ability to interpret design specifications and convert them into precise and manufacturable models.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with engineers and other stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify design issues early in the process and propose solutions that are manufacturable and align with quality standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with other CAD software such as CATIA or SolidWorks is a plus.
- Certification in PMI or GD&T is highly desirable.
